I still want to see Patent's presentation. Frankly, if Fr. Klores and the Rectory are interested, I'd like to hold a meeting after Easter with the Young Adults, et al. and use it then, if that's okay with you, patent. I know VinnyTex is anxious for an answer on whether or not it's really "Notre Flame".

With help from a couple of magicians, should have the forum portion of the ConSpiratio up and running within the week. This means I'd REALLY like to have copies of the first meeting's papers to put online.

(Save mine, perhaps, which -- as I mentioned -- was the victim of technical diffulties. For now, my contributions will remain in the hosting domain. =)

I'm curious what became of the book, "Celibacy in the Early Church" by Stefan Heid, that I sent for your get together.

Thank you both for bringing this article to my attention. It's excellent. Touchstone, btw, bills itself as a journal of "Mere Christianity", so its outlook is largely Protestant; they are to be especially commended for publishing this essay.

The only point missing that I can think of the eschatological witness of celibacy, which is an important reason for its preservation. And, the fact that through the centuries the vast majority of Catholic religious have been faithful to their vows must truly frost the Left, which can't abide sexual continence. It seems to spend a great deal of its time trying to convince all and sundry that personal sanctity is a hopeless and foolhardy pursuit. Naturally it would, for those who are enslaved by their passions are more easily controlled.

I would say further that the pastoral clergy could do with more monastic discipline rather than less. You just know that these scandalous priests could not have been faithful in saying their Office, for example. It is impossible to maintain an active prayer life and indulge in such heinous sins at the same time.

For the most part my presentation is a bullet point version of what you see here. I seriously doubt the words that would have accompanied the presentation and fleshed it out would have been as eloquent. I also spent a bit more time on the media circus we have now, and the various groups who’s agendas pushed this issue to where it is now, as I think it is very important to understand that.

Regardless, to be honest Askel, this article says it more completely then the power point presentation I have does. The power point thing would have gone well with someone there to explain what each bullet meant, but its kind of sketchy without that. I had meant to add text to round it out, but just haven’t had the time to really do a paper.
