It seems highly unlikely to me that the public would hold anyone in Congress who comes clean now responsible for any attacks that may occur in the future. I think the chances are good that the public would not even hold such a person responsible for the attacks that have occurred in the past. After all, he would have shown that, whatever his faults, he was better than the rest of Congress.

You can bet your farm on it.
