Cambridge seeks to lower voting age
Local briefs
Tuesday, March 26, 2002
<!CAT-LONW!>
The Cambridge City Council will petition the Legislature to lower the voting age to 17 for Cambridge municipal elections - a move which, if enacted, could set a national precedent.
<!ENDSUMM!>
Councilors voted overwhelming last night to draft the home-rule petition after some 50 city youths turned out to support the measure.
Janice Lee, a Boston-area youth organizer, praised the work of teens, saying, ``They're tired of not being heard. Youths have the right to have a say in decisions that affect their lives.''

Like which trust fund to draw on, which club drug to take and whether to go to the Socialist Democrat Rally or the Green Party Rally. Give me a break.

Set the bar for voting as high as the bar to carry a handgun, which is a different Constitutional right. Oops, that's nobody in MA. Poof! Away goes MA's electoral votes.

And... which Mohammed Atta? There's probably a few more of them, alive and dead, still hanging around the country and voting DemocRAT.

17-year olds can register to vote in my CT town. But the town is overrun by Republicans, so parents can at least exercise a healthy influence.

If you aren't responsible enough to drink, why are you responsible enough to vote?

Actually, the voting age should be raised to 31. Americans act like petulant juveniles until that age, and a large percentage never really grow up.

What about all those under the age of 17, why are they being denied the right to vote?
Lets lower the voting age to 1. Thats correct 1, then the unborn can vote. Think of the implications!
