I have always thought of "homosexual" (and it's derivatives) as a rather morally neutral word.

I've never met anyone (and I've met quite a few liberals) who found offense in the word "homosexual" -- well, except those who seemed to have some sort of negative fixation on the subject (and no, I'm not saying that they were closet homosexuals).

To me it refers to the sexual orientation of being attracted exclusively to persons of the same gender or it refers to a person with a homosexual orientation. Never saw any inherent insult in it.
