The Nazis weren't Christians.

[history]
Holy Week is by no means all sweetness and light. This Friday Christians mark the crucifixion, a terrible event redeemed by the resurrection three days later. The Jews gather on Thursday for Passover, celebrating the Exodus from slavery as the angel of death skipped Jewish homes during Egypt's tenth plague, the killing of the firstborn. So perhaps it's not an inappropriate time to discuss another terrible topic, the Holocaust, and in particular the divisive issue of Christian culpability in the Nazi genocide of the Jews. It is not the purpose here to dismiss the long history of anti-Semitism in Christian lands. By now most Christians agree this was a sin, and its legacy surely played an important role in laying a groundwork for the Nazis and in muting opposition to the "final solution."

I meant to add that the one common thing between all on that chart was their leadership of governments that had total power. Every one was death by government as a matter of policy. Religion is not the enemy, unchecked government power is.

Here's Rummel's breakdown on the Nazi's genocide. As you can see, they had no problem killing Christians. Jews made up less than 1/3 of Hitler's total deaths.

"Yes... but the whole anti-semetic thing comes from a religious base." anti-Semitism does have a religious base but it alone does not lead to genocide. It is not even necessary for genocide. Hitler had the same feelings and same plans toward the Slavs, which was entirely racial and not religious. You may say that Central European attitudes toward Jews allowed Hitler to make them a highly visible target for the unwashed masses, but Nazi policy had nothing to do with religion and everything to do with his bizarre belief in an Aryan master race based on pagan mythology and supported by junk science (eugenics). Sound familiar to the Earth Firsters?
Religion is not the make or break point. Absolute power is.

Let's see you post some evidence of just how I said that there was a causal link between Christianity and the criminal acts of Nazism. It'll be hard to do, because I never posted such a thing. I simply pointed out the self-evident fact that germans were, are and will be largely Christian. The whole point of the original comments was to link Christianity to Nazism. Then you pop up, for no other reason I guess, then to be "right" about something. Lovely. Since you are done with your contribution to the argument, which amounts to "is too, is too, is too," you can now go back to building your spaceship in the basement so you can visit the Norse gods. Thanks for your input.

Right on the first, mostly wrong on the second. Hitler's religion drove him to all the bullcrap he pulled. But his religion is quite unlike anything we have today, apart from a few individuals in selected nuthouses. Hitler's religion was a mishmash of Christian beliefs (he was convinced of the hand of Providence) and racial worship and spiritualism and a great big dollop of self-worship. "Hitlerism" is about the best descriptor of Hitler's religion.
Hitler's religion was based in the Master Race theory, and didn't include spiritualism. Hitler may have taken different concepts from religion (for example, if he did believe in the hand of Providence). However, Hitler mutilated these concepts rather harshly. His version of the concept matches the original version as well as a square block in a round hole. You might say that the concept was taken from a certain religion, however, what you can't say is that Hitler's beliefs are part that religion, because once the concept is altered as much as Hitler did to it, it can no longer be considered part of the original religion. Hitler's religion has as much relation to Christianity as your beliefs have to the Islamic because you both believe people who walk, talk, think and breath are alive. Hitler's was a warped religion, and to compare it to Christianity is to ignore this (if certain Hitler beliefs were even comparable to Christian beliefs, which I haven't seen evidence of yet).

Why don't you just post the statement "I hate Christianity and all of its manifestations" and be done w/ it. At least in that way your postings would be truthful as opposed to the vast amounts of drivel they currently contain.

Close but no cigar. Passover celebrates "... celebrating the Exodus from slavery ... death skipped Israelite homes..." There were no Jews for another ~1500 years. All Jews are Israelites, but only a small percentage of Israelites are Jews.
Passover is a legitimate holiday for many Christians, but few Christians seem to understand Biblical history. (Click my Profile for details.)

You've nailed another Christophobe on FR. It's Lex's favorite thing to do to hate Christians. I once attempted to answer his inane questions (and he clearly has no grasp of scripture and has bought into many lies from the evil one), but he isn't interested in the answers. He's only here to feed his hatred.

Thanks for your concern. I can't possibly tell you how much your opinion means to me.

"It's Lex's favorite thing to do to hate Christians."
Yes, I've run across him before and know his technique. Like many atheists on FR he has no intention of dialogue but merely wants to insult our faith.
I normally don't like to waste time w/ such things (pearls before swine etc.) but it's sometimes important to name things clearly.
To Lex; "Know Thyself"; its the key to freedom.

I don't think he's an athiest. I think he's a neo-pagan. Only Wiccans hate Christians more than neo-pagans do.
