Edward Cardinal Egan confronted the growing scandal of sexual abuse by priests head-on last night, issuing a three-point plan that includes removing sexual predators from their parishes.
"Should any priest sexually abuse a child, he will be removed from pastoral ministry," the spiritual leader of the Archdiocese of New York's 2.4 million Catholics said in his Palm Sunday message.

Egan still maintains he will not turn over Homosexual predator priests from the past,He continues to maintain secrets from the authorities.
I never thought I would see the day when I agree with the Mayor of New York over the "Cardinal" of New York.

Unfortunatley, until the leadership takes it head out of the sand, this problem is not going away anytime soon.
How about this: Send the criminal to jail.
This whole thing is a disaster of generational scope. The pews are slowly emptying, and the priests and bishops have squandered their moral authority. Their idea to get it back? Send a letter to parishoners saying they will re-assign child molestors. Nice.
If someone were to write a novel with all the facts relelased in the past few weeks, they would be ex-communicated. Yet the truth is more disgusting than any fiction.

"Should any priest sexually abuse a child, he will be removed from pastoral ministry..."...the archdiocese will report allegations of sexual abuse to the authorities if there is "reasonable cause to suspect abuse" and the victim doesn't oppose the reporting.
Sounds like more than "reassigning".
