JO Waby was born a man, became a woman and now wants to be a dad.
In an advertisement she is offering to buy a house for any woman who will be impregnated with her frozen sperm.
Jo, 39, had the sperm collected at a fertility clinic before her sex-swap operation eight years ago.
"I'm a transsexual, I changed my sex," she told Sunday News.
"I have had the sperm frozen since I was 25 because I knew one day I was going to have a family.
"I feel I'm at that age now where I'm ready. I don't want to adopt.
"Changing to a woman, I'm a lesbian. It's very hard to end up in a relationship with a lesbian."
"I thought maybe there's a heterosexual girl out there who could do with her own home.
"I'm looking to put down $50,000 as a deposit and I'll help pay it off as well.
"There has to be somebody out there who would entertain the thought of, 'You buy me a home and we'll have a child together and share it'.
"I'm sure there'd be lots of women out there."
Jo said she would prefer the prospective mum to be aged 30-35 and live near her home at Northcote, on Auckland's North Shore.
She set 35 as the limit because artificial insemination was less successful after that age.
Jo, a property dealer, wanted a woman she was compatible with - not one who was just motivated by the money. She wanted a family.
"I don't want it to be just an act of, 'You have a child for me, I'll buy you a house'," she said.
"You couldn't imagine having a family with somebody if you don't click with them.
"I hate to think what the child would turn out like.
"Ideally there would be a marriage."
Jo said she would tell her child how they were conceived.
"I'm an honest person. And if you can't teach your child honesty, what can you teach them?"
Jo said she would be a dad to the child, and would be a good father.
"I'm a good person. I never do anything bad or hurt anybody," she said.
"I'll teach the child right from wrong, how to stand on their own two feet.
"I guess I'll need a little help along the way but the natural instinct will kick in to look after a child in the correct fashion."
Jo said she grew up as John on the North Shore. She went to Westlake Boys' High School.
"I was just an ordinary Kiwi child, played soccer," she said.
But Jo decided she wanted to become a woman and had a sex change operation in Sydney in 1994. Earlier, in 1988, she had sperm frozen.
"I always wanted to be a father. It's got to be one of the greatest satisfactions in life," Jo said.
"I actually had a woman have an abortion to me in the eighties.
"I wanted to have the child but she went behind my back and had an abortion, which broke my heart, devastated me.
"Through that act, I lost the pleasure out of being a man.
"That's why I froze sperm because I knew one day I was going to have a family."
Jo has placed a newspaper advertisement today with her home-for-a-baby deal offer.
"I know I'm going to have children but it's just a matter of meeting the right person," she said.
"It'll be interesting to see what sort of response I get."

I am not finding it difficult to understand why the girlfriend had an abortion.
Let's just hope they don't blame this on us because of Hollyweird.

HUH????????
What's that Aerosmith song again??? "Dude looks like a lady."
I agree!!!!!!!!!!
was born a man, became a woman and now wants to be a dad.
At least, shouldn't "she" want to be a MOM!!!! Or has the he/she reverted to male?
In any case, sounds more like He?She? needs psychiatric help far more than a child. Hope He?She? fails in this endeavor. I would pity the child.
I bet its gotta top a couple million, at least.
Wow, no kidding. This guy, er.... whatever, redefines the whole concept of "loser". I think he/she/it better start saving his/her/its pennies. There is no way $50,000 is gonna be enough.

Possibly the most bizarre series of consecutive quotes ever to appear in the English language. Not sure if I should forward to Bartlett's or Bartles & Jaymes.
