LIMA, Peru (CNN) -- Peru's interior minister Thursday tied a deadly car bombing near the U.S. Embassy to this weekend's visit by U.S. President George Bush and the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

My bet is that some of Laura Berenson's Shining Path friends want Mr. Bush to know that they want him to pressure the Peruvians into release her, or else. Berenson wants out so she can attend the US terrorists convention in, I think, Kansas in early 2003. They hope that Soliah, Rap Brown, Mumia al-Copkiller, will be there, along with the geezers from the SLA. The guest speaker will be Jane Fonda so, you can see how desperate Bersonson might be.

No, I think that she and her Shining Path sisters-in-arms arranged this blast to impress Mr. Bush.
