Massachusetts Teacher Arrested for driving three teenage students to another state to buy bullets.
Fox News (TV) - Boston, MA Channel 25 | FR Post 21 MARCH 2002 | VANNROX

Posted on 03/22/2002 7:42:56 AM PST by vannrox

Just announced on FOX TV. I was unable to get the details, and I can't find it on the Internet Yet.

Summary is that there is a current High School Teacher who has been arrested. He is charged with a FELONY. His crime is that he was driving three high school students to a nearby state to purchase ammo. The report did not mention if he was the teacher of the students or not. The report did not mention the names or the ages of the students. The report did not mention in how the LAW got involved in this issue.

Does anyone have any more information on this?

"I know the whacked out gun nuts"

I'm beginning to believe there are actually two of you. The normal, good conservative Dane and his/her evil liberal twin, Enad.

Think for a second here.. read the headline.. buying bullets for KIDS! I'm sure if you are a parent you would take your neighbor's kids to buy ammo. Besides the liability invovled he is a teacher and to buy kids ammo is a serious matter. This has nothing to do with a commie state or with your right to bear arms.. hell if i buy alcohol for a minor I can get sent to jail. It's a law meant for a reason.. hmm think Columbine. Relax my good friend your guns are still safe.

LoL, once more you are proven correct in waiting to actually get a few facts about this "outrage."

Some of these posters must really be frogs since they so readily jump to conclusions.

So, you aren't just a big proponent of the War on Drugs and Forfieture and Police State Tactics, but you are also contemptous of the right to keep and bear arms.

Ain't it funny how these things just seem to go hand in hand? Those who despise one part of the Bill of Rights tend to despise the others as well.

What do you think about the "I have a right to own a .45"? Do you consider us "gun nuts"?

Nope, the gun nuts are people who would post on this thread defending this teacher's aide, afraid that this means a slippery slope to total confiscation of guns.

Why is a felon employed as a teacher's aide? Oh, that's right, it's Massachusetts.

It's worth noting just how many folks started screaming about this guy being arrested without stopping to consider (a) the teacher's assistant had no business doing that, and (b) the ammo was used in the commission of a felony.

Umm, it's been a long time since I've lived in Massachusetts, but at the time it was also illegal for a non-related person of majority age to transport a minor across state lines *FOR ANY REASON* without the consent of the parents. This would have included running to New Hampshire to buy a lottery ticket, let alone cartridges (correct terminology, please).

Actually, I was pretty okay with this arrest until I understood your point A) and B). Now I am upset at this arrest! I want MORE ex-felons driving children around to different states to buy ammunition for drive-by shootings!

If it saves ONE LIFE..... it's worth it! Do it for the children!

Well, I guess I'm a bit of a gun nut Dane. I don't think all felons should lose their RKBA forever but I do think an excon with a violent prior taking banger students across state lines to buy ammo for a drive-by smells bad from just about anyway you look at it.

When I first saw this thread, I thought it would be about some Scout Troop leader buying .22LR for his troop's marksmanship classes.

You can say that again. Maybe after everyone see's Sean's true colors he might not be a teacher anymore.

Re #12

Initially, I assumed that this outing was of innocuous kind, such as taking kids in shooting club to the store by Shooting club coach or similar less offensive circumstance. Now, it appears that this arrest has its merit. On the other hand, my comment about that place still stands. It is fortunate that this event is not another confirmation of sorry affairs of state where conservatives pretty much endure liberal-nazi dogma and learn to accept some of them, especially schools dominated by political correctness and militant feminism.

And to think, when I was young we carried our .22 rifles on the school bus with a box of cartridges also, to participate in Rifle Club after school! Perhaps we were the original 'bangers'? [Referring to the article: if the person took them to by bullets (lead pellets for cartridges), how is it known the pellets were used in a driveby?]

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm sure I'll have to deal with this on this weekend's freep. Being a Mass-hole, until this Commonwealth can straighten itself out, feel free to bash away.
