Dump Truck Chase Ends in Crash

Wild Truck Pursuit

Phoenix, March 21 (AP) -- A crash ended a 40-minute police pursuit early today in Phoenix involving a dump truck.

The truck was involved in two other accidents before it collided with a car at Bethany Home and Central, flipped on its side, clipped a traffic light and then slid to a stop.

The truck driver got out and began to run. But a witness, Doug Click, chased him down with a small baseball bat and police officers quickly took him into custody.

The truck driver was taken to a hospital, so were the two adults and four children in the car. The injuries are not believed to be serious.

Police had initially tried to stop the truck around 6 a-m in northeast Phoenix but the driver sped off.

Police ground units ended the pursuit, but a police helicopter continued to follow the truck.

Follow the link to see video of the wild chase, horrific rollover crash, and the brave Mr. Click sprinting out of his car to lay half a dozen good blows about the head and ears of the maniac driver before he can escape. He gets my vote for the Todd Beamer award.

Actually, this clip doesn't show the entire showdown between Click and the crystal-meth-addled felon he bagged. Only one good shot. I saw it on the news this morning, and he clearly whacked the perp several good ones. Guess the media moguls didn't want to glorify armed vigilantism too much, lest us peasants start to get funny ideas.

Let's just hope this wonderful citizen doesn't get more jail time than the thug he took down.

Yeah, but think of the massive lawsuit he'll now face, for doing the right thing. Hope he's got a big bank account. The slimeball he beat on will probably end up wealthy for a few years, until he expends it all on drugs and prostitutes.

I watched the news clip on the tele and I was amazed how the car at the intersection clipped the rear end of the idiot's juggernaut and sent it cereening out of control. I'm just glad their where no vehicles on the other side of the intersection otherwise the truck driver would be facing a murder charge.

The driver of the car that got clipped should be commended by the way he ended the chase!
