Rush just mentioned that he doesn't think that Bush signing CFR will hurt the base in 2004. I think he's wrong and was very out of touch today. He seemed to be backing off his virulent stand against CFR. It is absurd to think that Bush is signing CFR and co-opting other domestic issues from the dems because he wants to get domestic issues out of the way to waging war. The President has a constitutional duty to take care of both foreign and domestic policy and should not use this excuse to sweep other things under the rug. The President is capable enought to handle all issues with the help of his advisers.

Barring a complete smackdown by the SCOUS and / or some sort of currently secret strategic move by the Bush camp, I'll be voting for Nader. While I won't vote for him, I'll do the next best thing by hurting the Rats.
To: RamsNo1
I agree with you. He took the wind right out of my sails. I'll never think the same of him again.
To: RamsNo1
If Bush signs this incumbent protection bill he will be a one term president. I cannot believe he is making the same mistakes as his father, he is dumb enough to believe you can deal with democraps honorably.

So another elected official lets down those who voted for him.
Same song, different verse.

I think Rush is right on. I know many many Republicans, yet VERY few true conservatives like on this site. Most Republicans just vote that way because they are pro morality, and hate taxes. As much as I hate to admit it, CFR is of little matter to most Republicans I know.
To: RamsNo1
Hey Rush, if he signs it, my big white base is gone.
To: RamsNo1
He backed off because he's a lapdog. Once it became apparent that Bush was going to break his oath to both God and Country, what else could Limbaugh do but tow the party line? That's the only thing he does anymore anyway.
Does it bother anybody else that Bush, a self proclaimed Christian who's highest influence is Jesus, doesn't mind breaking an oath he took with his hand on the Bible and invoking God's name, to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States?
To: KantianBurke
You won't hurt the rats.

Texaggie, isn't it amazing how many people expect that an elected official will vote the way they believe every time or they start this whining about not supporting him? This is a small bump in the road and will not affect Bush's re-election. If it does then he had a bunch of fair weather supporters and we can go back on the road to socialism like many in Europe want us to do.
Blah to the whiners.

I fail to see how that will hurt the democrats since you were not a democrat voter to start with.Exactly. I get tired of one-issue conservatives who threaten to pout and take their toys homes if every move of the game doesn't go their way.
We will never -- never -- have a president who does everything the way everyone of us wants him/her to. If we fail to look at the whole package and become sulky over one issue, we might as well not run a conservative candidate to begin with. We won't need the Dems to defeat us because we'll have done ourselves in. :o(

It's not just CFR, it's amnesty for lawbreakers, fetal stem cell research, and a lot of other issues adding up.

All your conservative base are belong to us.
To: RamsNo1
Well, I for one will not declare my voting intentions for '04 in the Spring of friggin' '02, for crying out loud. Yes, I am distressed that Bush will sign this bill, but I have no idea what the world will look like in '04. If it's between Bush and Daschle/Gephardt/Kerry/etc., I certainly don't think I could safely say Bush has lost my vote.

"...I'll be voting for Nader."Yeah buddy, that'll teach Bush all right - while it enables the Naderites to qualify for even more of our tax money in matching funds in the following elections!
Ever hear the expression, "Cutting off your nose to spite your face"?
