And this forum.
Go figure.
ROTFL. Get back to me when you've sobered up.
I didn't know that Fred. That makes me want to protest the secret police along with the CFR issue. If we keep it under 25 people, we don't need a permit.
Since we (the right) don't tend to hire shady welfare people and bus them to our protests, we might not get a large group. The issue is not "what people" in DC think, the issue is "What do the people around the country who voted Bush into office think?"
So while it may be a small sign, the larger threat to Bush is his voting base: the Red Zone on the US map. Reagn Girl posted a thread HERE about a letter that was sent to Bush from 60 conservative groups. These groups have members all over the country (THINK: electoral college and popular vote.) In my opinion something like that would get Bush thinking hard, because the people that signed that letter reperesent his base, and he has angered them.
I think Bush has 10 days to sign this bill. Action must be taken quickly. WRITE/FAX/E-MAIL Bush HERE to let him know you are displeased with his actions.
By all means; devour your own. Those of you on the fringe have relegated yourselves to near irrelevance.
If this is the first FRN sponsored FReep, then make certain you have plenty of sign holders come November. You'll have to FReep the Senate and the House.
Then again perhaps you just want to have a membership which agrees on every issue you demand to be heard. That way you wouldn't have to spend so much money on signs. One sign for every 12 members = four.
We should freep the White House as far as this issue is concerned(and amnesty too). But lets not make the mistake of turning on our own the first time they make a mistake. CFR is a mistake, Amnesty is a mistake. Bush will probably make a couple more mistakes too. But He will do a lot of Good things too. He slowed the gov't's rate of growth to 4%. Has it every been lower? He's rebuilding the military. For the first time ever there is about letting people control their own Social Security. etc. I would suggest that we follow Rush's example. Rush gets on Bush's case when he makes a mistake, but he won't abandon him for not being conservative enough.
I am a little troubled by your mentioning clinton. How can you compare the two?? The two are about as opposite as you can get. It's very hard to think of anything that clinton did right. Nafta(I realize that's debateble here), He did declare the era of Big Gov't was over (right before he announced his plans for massive spending increases.) I cannnot think of any major action that Clinton did that I would regard as correct or even principled.
It's a much different story with Bush. His stand on the War. His stand on the treaties (missle defense, enviromental). If we judge people by their actions, clinton would freeped a lot more than Bush.
Let both of them use the logo.
We aren't some leviathanic organization. We don't march in lock-step per whatever orders come out of Fresno at dawn. If people see two groups in contention, and both using the FR logo, and if they're doing so in a polite, orderly fashion, I can't help but see how that would reflect favorably upon us. It shows that we aren't stamped out by a political machine.
The pro-Constitution-no-matter-what bloc is going to crush the Bushies anyway, of course... ;-)
What are you talking about? There is no "FRN Sponsored Freep." If people do not want Bush to sign CFR, then they can write, e-mail or fax him. The "FRN" isn't asking anyone to do anything, if people want to go and freep the White House they certainly can do so. They don't need permission. They have a right to go out and make their opinion known.
You should read what I wrote more carefully, before responding.
I don't know who I'll be voting for(I know it's a two party system - hell, maybe the dem gets my vote). I do know that Bush can expect no money from me, and unless he REALLY comes through above and beyond for the 2nd amendment, my checkbook is closed, and I won't campaign for him. I prefer to contribute to candidates and campaign for candidates that support my views. Mike Rogers, my rep voted the right way. He'll get my support before wishy washy moderates.
There are only two things in the middle of the road. ROADKILL and a YELLOW STRIP. Bush needs to remember what GOT HIM there. THE NRA.
Wins in the eyes of the public? I don't think most of the public gives a rat's butt about this bill. As for SCOTUS
IMO - Bush wants to show 'bipartisanship' and appeases McStain. The result is this AWFUL bill, that personally hits close to home for me. This can also lead to a pincer attack. Hit from the right(this bill), and the left(since they hate him anyway). Boom - dem in 2004.
As soon as this is signed, I'm calling a couple of political lawyers I know and will see if I can sign on as a plaintiff or contribute to their defense fund.
I owe him one.
I don't trust them.
So do I understand that you consider the FRN, American Conservative Union, National Rifle Association, and all the other 60+ conservative groups that signed the letter to the President to be the "fringe?"
