I hope this isn't a repeat. I did a search under "Jesse Jackson Jr." and Peter Fitzgerald" and did not find this.
We have enough trouble in this state without the (so-called) conservatives turning left. Call our boy Petey and tell him this is not a good idea.
Chicago Office: 312-886-3506
But don't expect to find Petey there -- he moved his family to DC years ago.

You need to see this. I just got done working like a dog down here trying to get conservatives elected, and Fitzgerald pulls this?

If this is true, Fitzgerald is finished.
And if it is true, I hope he is finished.
Let's just hope this another news media lie.

Regardless of the statements Sen. Fitzgerald may make, or votes he may have recorded to his name, he will STILL be portrayed as a "conservative", mostly because of his foolish inclination to keep playing the white male. He runs left, he loses whatever base he has among the more conservative Republicans, and gains practically nothing in the river towns of the far downstate, or in the inner city of Chicago.

Mr. Fitzgerald voted for Campaign Finance Reform today.
Pi$$ on the Constitution, I need the votes.

I don't buy this. Fitzgerald has been his own kind of R. Moving left to defuse JJJr, to where? CMBraun's plank? To gain who?

Disgusting, isn't it.
And to think I sent him money. I'd have done better to just set it on fire. At least it would have kept me warm.

Fitzgerald has already performed a great service to mankind by getting rid of Braun. She is the most stupid person to ever be a senator. She is at best functionally illiterate.
To: Lancey Howard
We Conservatives (and check out my (page) for credentials are like lemmings all too often.
Our culture has degenerated (thanks again LBJ), as there is no personal accountability anymore, trial lawyers rampaging including (274,000! asbestos claims against Halliburton for instance)and endless examples of that it was somebody elses fault.
So now we come down to our polticians. You can be a hard core Conservative in a State like Montana and go to Washington, and work like hell to build a better Country.
Try that in Kalifornistan, Konnecticut, Delaware, New York, Massachusetts ad infinitum, as it goes on and on.
Our guys will get their head handed to them if they are perceived and vote as "reactionary".
I heard Rush today defending GWB, and Rush said that Bush is laying a great trap for the rat/socialists for the fall elections. Defang the rats, and take over the Senate, as in two steps back, and one step forward and hug that piece of xlinton named Daschle.
I nope Rush is right, because our Country loves socialism, except of course in Montana, Idaho, and certainly not Illinois.

I agree that Braun needed to go, but Fitzgerald doesn't need to fill the liberal gap.
Fitzgerald is concerned the conservative label will hurt his coming re-election bid.
I don't find that statement very comforting.
To: reformed_democrat
If this is true it's really stupid. He'll alienate his base and gain nothing. It says there's something wrong with being a right-winger, which puts him in an inherently weak position. Instead, he should put the other guy on the defensive.

I'll refrain from jumping to conclusions here. It might be just a matter of Fitzgerald resisting funding for some Red Chinese infrastructure project to be built by the Unification Church that owns the Washington Times. Time will tell. Fitzgerald ran as a conservative against Carol Mostly Fraud and I have seen little evidence of unacceptable behavior since.
They need not march in lockstep on every issue just on the babies, guns, taxes, marriage, defense, and the willingness to project military power as necessary. According to the post, he plans on being conservative on money which is probably the least important of those issues. Check back with me when you have evidence that Fitzgerald is doing Planned Barrenhood fundraisers like some of your guys. BTW, Fitzgerald, a former State Senator well acquainted with the behavior of potential jailbirds like RINO GEORGE Ryan, filibustered against funding of a Lincoln presidential library here lest RINO George get to corrupt that too.
James Ryan has a long way to go out here to get conservative support but I will give him credit for two things.
1. James is avoiding the potty mouth disease of RINO GEORGE who is just apoplectic that Patrick O'Malley and even his own handpicked abortion-enthusiast Lieutenant Governor Corrine Wood were simultaneously demanding his prosecution. RINO is so cozy with Castro that he will probably be made Mayor of Havana so he can have a refuge from the Federales.
2. Challenged by the usual pro-baby murder blather out of Blagojevich who should remember that he was nominated by the downstate vote and that James Ryan cannot govern Illinois from the FAR RIGHT and that Blagojevich is a fighter because he was in the Golden Gloves, James Ryan responded by saying: Well, both of us were in the Gold Gloves but I would remind him that, unlike him, I won. Advantage James Ryan but prosecuting the RINO and repudiating the gay rights bill and prosecuting Christ Hospital for infanticide might do him more permanent good. After all, the DemonRats can hire writers of one liners.
All of this would be over the head of LAMAR!!! the Howdy Doody of the Geritol set or RINO riordan for that matter.
