Why would any state dare to tax food? At that point, the state is basically saying drop dead and showing its true greed.

South Carolina does too. The plus side is that your real estate/school taxes are 20% of those elsewhere in the country. I guess if you save you grocery reciepts you could deduct them when itemizing.

Makes about as much sense as states who charge highway use fee taxes on fuel sales in aircraft. It costs me $300~$400 to fill up. 32% of that is for highway uses which airplanes don't use. Again, if you save your receipts, you can itemize it all out. But if you are some of the 80% who don't bother, the amount of money you lose is staggering. You don't exactly find the states making an effort to make you aware of this. One year when we were flying a lot, it came to $7000.00.

Perfect food tax proponent=Jerald Naddler. Why don't he and Hillary advocate the much needed money. She can wear a two piece bikini and Naddler can wear a Speedo at the press conference.

When we lived in Oklahoma in '99 there was still a tax on food sales. Is there still a food tax in Oklahoma?
