I knew this was going to happen - and the Hondurans, Nicaraguans, Ecuadorans and Peruvians will also make the same demand. Not mentioned in this "misiva" to Bush is that among the 270,000 ILLEGAL Salvadorans are untold thousands of Salvadoran gangbangers known as the "Salvatruchas". They're already well established in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, New York, Charlotte and coming soon to a neighborhood near you. They're among the most vicious of the Latin gangs and have branches in El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico. In Mexico the narcos use Salvatruchas as their "sicarios" (assassins); they're not afraid of the police and they're definitely not afraid of the common U.S. citizen which might get in their way. Unless some of our congresspeople take a firm stand I have no doubt we'll see the amnesty extended to ALL illegals.

Yeah, I suppose we should just have all of Latin America move here. Meanwhile, the vast majority of their territory is underpopulated. Take Argentina f'rinstance-- over twice the size of Texas, rich in natural resources and a population about equal to California. Once one of the 10 wealthiest countries in the world, they are now flirting with being an economic basket case due to years of socialist political corruption. There are people 2-3 generations removed from Europe who are now getting the documents to go back. You'd think Argentinia might be an attractive destination.

Then there's Brazil in a similar situation. Brazil, Peru, Bolivia and Columbia once brought in thousands of immigrants from Japan, many of whom became the professional classes there. Again, years of socialism wrecked those economies and, as much as the economy sucks in Japan, those who have the chance prefer being a factory worker in Hamamatsu to being a dentist in Cordoba.

Liberals are like locust-- after they consume and wreck what they have on their side of the fence, the solution is always to move on to the nearest available target.

We've got a whole lot of soldiers doing "meals on wheels" duties in Kosovo and Bosnia who need to be brought home to guard our borders!

Yes, the U.S. needes immigration, but we need to be selective about it. I've worked with scores of good engineers from India over the years who tell me of their troubles trying to get into the U.S. legally, even for family visits. They know about the H1B program, but don't want to be indentured servants. I tell them their best way is to visit Mexico and just walk in with the waves who are constantly moving north. They laugh and say they know about that route but want to get in legally.
