WASHINGTON (AP) -- Click on Sen. John McCain's Web site and a pig appears, pushing a barrel with its snout, its tail tied to a banner that says "Pork Barreling."

The lumbering swine is a slap at lawmakers who use their clout to win federal money for home-state spending projects, and it provides a glimpse into McCain's style -- blunt, dogged, sometimes humorous, willing to offend.

Over 16 years in the Senate, McCain has also carved out a role as a leading spokesman in his party on military affairs.

A leading spokesman in the eyes of the MEDIA - not with any vet I know. McCain is getting less media exposure now; many outlets are interviewing CURRENT military personnel returning from Afghanistan and elsewhere.

About CFR. The downside of being so closely aligned to one particular issue is that when the legislation proves to be bad (which this is), or is overturned (it probably will be), McCain will forever be linked to FAILED or BAD legislation. He could well go down in flames - as he did before. (I couldn't resist).

"It does not concern him if he's not the most popular guy in the Republican" ranks of senators, says Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, one of only five GOP senators who supported the Arizonan in the 2000 presidential primaries

Yep, he's an a-hole alright. But most of history's great mission-oriented achievers were too: i.e. George Washington, Andrew Jackson, Stonewall Jackson, William Sherman, Black Jack Pershing, George S. Patton; and they ended up being adored ...it is history's failures: Bill Clinton, Warren G. Harding, Millard Fillmore, (and future failures--Trent Lott, Phil Graham, Mitch McConnell, et al) who try to be all for all that scare me.

Solventur risu tabulae: tu missus abibis--They that will be dismissed with laughter--[the (Senate) will be laughed out of office] should it not pass this Act!

Who wrote this trash, Sir Johnies mom? The real hero is Mitch McConnell.Just heard the two Senators from Maine declare that CFR is better than sex. The combined IQ of those two can`t be more than 5. What airheads.
