Sources: Swift Dropping Out Of Governor's Race
Cites Family Reasons For Leaving GOP Field To Romney
BOSTON -- Sources tell NewsCenter 5 that Acting Gov. Jane Swift has decided to drop out of the race for the GOP gubernatorial nomination this fall.
Swift, a mother of three, including twin girls who were born last June, cited family reasons for her decision not to run.
Aides said she is expected to make a formal announcement later Tuesday.
Swift's decision comes on the heels of a news that Olympic chief Mitt Romney plans to formally announce his candidacy for the corner office. He returned to his hometown of Belmont, Mass., this weekend after three years organizing the 2002 Olympic Winter games in Salt Lake city.

Who is running on the Demo ticket?Shannon O'Brien, State Treasurer
Thomas Birmingham, Senate Presidint
Robert Reichhsssshsh, former Labor Secretary, and
Steve Grossman, State Party Chairman, endorsed by Clinton.
Now you know why we're grabbing the Mitt lifeline.

Next look for a lot of Mormon bashing from the rats.Except Mitt apparently is not at all true to his Mormon roots on social and cultural matters. He appears to be a Riordan-in-waiting. Maybe that's the only kind of Republican that can get elected in Mass.
From this site:
". . . Kincaid recalls that Limbaugh was an unabashed cheerleader for GOP 'moderates' during the 1994 congressional election, 'one of them being Mitt Romney in Massachusetts.' Romney appeared to be a plausible contender against Ted Kennedy, the Bay State's monument to decadent socialism, until Romney expressed pro-abortion and pro-homosexuality views. Romney, a leader in the Mormon Church, disavowed his Church's teachings regarding abortion [and] . . . endorsed the integration of homosexuals into the [Boy Scouts]."

You will NEVER hear of a Democrat leaving office for "family reasons." That just isn't done.

O'Brien and Grossman (a former DNC Chair and who is a very good friend of Clintoon's) are the ones that will get the most votes on the Democrat side. Reich is falling fast with his backtracking on the Clintoon "endorsement." Reich will have a lot of money, so he could end up in the Top 2, but it's a very tough road for him.

"Next look for a lot of Mormon bashing from the rats." They shouldn't. Aren't the Udall boys out west Mormons?
And so is, I believe, Senator Harry Reid of Nevada - Tom Dasshole's butt boy - er, uh excuse me, Asst. Majority Leader.

How could I forget Reich! He's a socialist, but does let you know he is.
What chance do you think Romney might have in Massachuetts?

Whoo hoo!!! Another RINO caught between the cross-hairs. Its not looking like a good year for RINOs now that Jane Swift's down and out...

Regarding that article you linked to, Limbaugh is just a radio personality. Same with RWR-- just a guy who was President. Liberals glorify and worship at the altar of RFK, JFK, FDR and the rest-- we shouldn't be idolizing personalities or politicians. Liberals are the goofy idealists. We're supposed to be pragmatic. Pragmatism always beats idealism because idealists have so many mood swings.

I like Swift, but I think she was just way over her head. She should go back to being a state senator and then in about 8 years make another state-wide run. She's not bad like the Kennedy clan, just ineffectual.

If he runs, barring any major eff-ups, he's the next Governor of the Commonwealth.
To: IVote2
Romney has a very good shot. Weld won and Cellucci won and Romney is stronger than they were in my opinion. There is no heavyweight in this race but Romney. Reich isn't a heavyweight because he has made many bad decisions. The Speaker of the House is a Democrat who likes to stab other state Democrats in the back to keep the power he has-- which is another edge for the GOP.
Massachusetts likes celebrities and Romney is a celebrity. They won't feel threatened by Romney because he's not a social conservative (though he is likely against things like civil unions-- which Swift was against as well, even though her choice for Lt. Gov. and her step-son support it). If Ted Kennedy dies in office, I'd rather have Romney appoint the replacement.
To: Hemingway's Ghost
He had Kennedy on the ropes in '94 but lacked the killer instinct. This time he should get some Democrat help if the Bulger Candidate, Tom Birmingham gets the D- nomination.

"I just hope Swift does the right thing and pardons Gerald Amirault before she leaves office,..."Swift?
She wouldn't know the "right thing" if it bit her on the butt!

And Ted Kennedy did some Mormon-bashing in 1994 when Romney ran against him.
Romney came close, too. I've hated the Hero of Chappaquiddick's guts since that race. Still hate the fat old drunk now.
