Democrats Starting Their Social Security Fear Campaign Early

Frankly, this is a surprise. Usually Democrats wait until much closer to the election before they start trying to scare the hell out of senior citizens over Social Security and Medicare.

This is an unusual election year, though. The Democrats just haven't come up with another issue … so it is apparently time to roll out old faithful.

The first scare barrage was fired last week by Richard Gephardt. He says that the Republicans have a "secret plan" to reduce Social Security benefits if they gain control of the House in this election.

As soon as Gephardt mentioned the "secret plan," Democrat Chairman Terry McAuliffe moved right in. He, too, said that the Republicans have a "secret plan" which they will enact right after the election. The plan will be to reduce benefits.

So ... who really DOES have a secret plan? Well, according to Donald Lambro of the Washington Times, Democrat insiders say it is the Democrats, not the Republicans, who are laying plans for quick votes after the election.

The Democrats will vote to raise Social Security taxes by expanding the payroll threshold. They'll also vote to repeal all of Bush's income tax cuts.

The truth is that every plan for Social Security reform put forth by Republicans absolutely locks-in … guarantees … all Social Security benefits for those already retired or nearing retirement. That information isn't of any value to Republicans, though, unless the information is delivered to voters.

The leftist media will be all too happy to report the frightening predictions of Gephardt and McAuliffe. That information helps to elect Democrats – and about 97 percent of the media crowd will be voting for Democrats. With help like that, how can the Democrats lose?

OK, Zell – Time to Stop Talking and Take Some Positive Action

Georgia's Zell Miller had quite a lot to say about the Democrats' Borking of Charles Pickering last week. He made it clear that Daschle's smear campaign against Pickering was dishonest, and that he should have been voted on and ratified.

OK, Zell. We hear you. We've been listening for a few years now while you point out all the problems with the Democrat Party. You, Zell, can make a difference. You can put Daschle right back into the Minority Leader's office tomorrow. What's the holdup?

The Wonderful, Peaceful Religion of Islam

We first heard about this on Friday … now we're reading the details. It's yet more news about the wonderful, peaceful nature of Islam.

In Saudi Arabia they have a group of goons wandering the street called the "Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice." This committee has a police force called the mutaween.

It seems there was a fire in the Saudi Arabian city of Mecca. The fire was in a girls school. Among the first on the scene of the fire were mutaween members.

So … did the mutaween go about trying to rescue girls from the fire? The answer, according to Saudi newspapers, would be "no." Instead, the mutaween began beating young girls to prevent them from leaving the school ... from leaving a burning building.

Why the beatings? Because the young girls were not dressed appropriately. They weren't wearing head scarves and their bodies weren't entirely covered.

It wasn't enough that the mutaween were trying to beat these girls back into the burning school. Newspapers report that they were also actively working to prevent firemen and police officers from rescuing the girls. The mutaween would warn anyone trying to rescue the girls that "it is sinful to approach them."

The end result? Fourteen young girls died in the fire.

And this is the behavior we get from a "peace-loving" religion.

Enough Is Enough – No to the School Tax Extension

Tomorrow Atlanta voters get to vote on raising their own taxes. Several years ago these same voters agreed to a "temporary" 1 percent sales tax for school construction. At that time I said that these taxes wouldn't be temporary ... that the school officials would come back again and again asking for extensions.

Well, tomorrow is that day. Atlanta wants you to vote to extend this tax. You should say NO.

Atlanta government schools spend almost $13,000 per year for each student – and we all know how miserable the results are. If Atlanta can't educate students on $13,000 a year, they certainly shouldn't be rewarded with more money.

It's all very simple. There is no limit to the hunger that politicians have for your money. As long as they can come to you and say "hey, give us some more," there will never be any pressure on them to streamline their operations and work to save money.

It's message time: You have enough of my money. Start showing some results, then you can come back to the trough for more.

PDK Watch – Spreading Hysteria

I've told you several times about the group PDK Watch. Their basic goal is to shut down Dekalb-Peachtree Airport in Atlanta. They believe that if they were to succeed in closing PDK, their property values would benefit.

To pursue their goals, the folks at PDK Watch have shown themselves to not be above outright lies and deceit.

You really can't blame them, though. The truth is that PDK is making less and less noise with every year that passes – so the truth won't serve the purposes of PDK Watch. They're a fun group to watch.

There was a crash near PDK a few months ago. A single-engine plane with four people on board took off in hideously bad conditions and crashed about two miles from the airport.

Now I am getting messages from people who live in the communities near the crash site. It seems that PDK Watch is in their neighborhoods spreading panic. One particularly elderly man was warned that he could be killed by an airplane falling on his house.

Someday soon perhaps the DeKalb County Commission members will recognize this group for what it is and will stop patronizing the group. In the meantime – expect the lies to continue.

Why Be Worried About Alec Baldwin?

Yes, he says incredibly stupid things. He says he's going to leave the country if Bush wins. He doesn't. He calls Fox News Channel the "Fascist Channel." Every time this man opens his mouth he makes a complete, unadulterated idiot out of himself – unless, that is, he's reading a script.

He's an ACTOR, folks! He pursues a profession that requires no real education or intelligence. He reads lines! Lines other people have written. By what miracle does the ability to read a written dialogue cause one to be viewed as intelligent?

Just ignore him. He'll grow old, get ugly and fade away along with his looks.

The New Falcons Board of Directors

I see that the new Atlanta Falcons board of directors will include Dr. Johnetta Cole. Is she going to really have time to devote to this effort? After all, there's her work on that group promoting the idea of reparations for slavery, the Reparations Coordinating Committee, and the time she likes to spend helping Fidel Castro bring in his sugar cane crop. I guess she'll just have to miss a few meetings.

Social Security issue or not, the GOP won't retake the Senate if the strongest GOP candidates - - eg Marc Racicot of MT -- refuse to run, as Racicot has refused. (Despite his refusal to help retake the senate, he still gets named GOP national chairman - showing that those who call the GOP "the stupid party" aren't clueless.

See this post:

""Why won't Racicot run? (Pickering loss shows need to retake Senate, but Racicot won't help)""

Yes the GOP invites these two to all of the "secret meetings". They even know the handshake.

Why don't you think there are elderly who feel comfortable with what Bush has promised them, let alone those who are inclined on the patriotic side? What happen's to the Rats who cannot run for president and congress? Damn shame our party is falling apart, especially with people like Talent... entering the race.

This isn't about who has intentions of doing what. Read it again and realize what the Rats are grasping for in order to survive. Better yet, what are 5 major issues they have?

The Rats have to play this now. It's all they have left. Nothing else they've tried has gone anywhere.

Run with this and use some of that soft $$ to get the message out. Don't wait and play defense.

One interesting thing about the Senior vote is that it's getting more conservative. As the liberal World War II generation ages and dies, the Silent Generation is taking their place. This is a group who overwhelmingly voted for Reagan and Bush the elder. They are not going to change course now because some little brats like Gephardt and Daschle are trying to frighten them.

This is a generation which had to grow up in the shadows of the soldiers, then when they grew up were pushed out of the way for a bunch of whiny boomers. The silents are not whiners and have always been problem solvers, not complainers. They will see some privatization as practical. They have saved money, unlike the boomers, and they're not the ones clamoring for expanded health care.
