[history]
Critics actually told a partial truth about the appeals court nomination of Mississippi District Court Judge Charles W. Pickering Sr. when they said that the reason for his rejection was his record on civil rights. His real record on civil rights is exactly what the liberals oppose, for two reasons. One, approving a Republican-appointed judge who had stood up to the Ku Klux Klan in the 1960s (while they have made a former KKK recruiter the president pro tempore) would diminish their "ownership" of the race issue; and two, liberals cannot afford to achieve their goals. If we ever achieve a truly color-blind, equal-opportunity society, there will be no job for liberals and no one for them to exploit to maintain power. Then what will they do? They cannot function in real jobs.

George Bush Jr. and Trent Lott should be ashamed for losing this battle.
You can blame the liberals all you want, but a good offense has to be better than the defense to get the ball across the line. (By the way, I apologize for using a football analogy during March Madness).

Leahy, et al, as much as said that they would never vote for a conservative.
Why do nominations have to be OK'd by this committee anyway?

Pickering defeat is very good news for the GOP.....More conservative Judges should be defeated by RATS....................Because the dumb "Yellow dogs" will never learn , unless the National RAt party sends southern conservative Judges home, and calling them all kinds of names....
Hey Yellow dogs Shumer said to yall, he will never vote for a conservative Judge......I am sure you all still proud to vote RAT in your state..............
If south wants conservative Judges, then ELECT GOP Senators, because in DC there is no such thing as a Conservative RAT......................
RINO SPECTER HAS MORE HOMOR THAN A SOUTERN RAT LIKE EDDY EDWARDS.......Yellow dogs wake and smell the coffee, Civil WAR is over......your RAT part has been Hijacked by the Northern Liberals........... >>>It's time for the yellow dogs to out up or shut up !!

"critics should be ashamed"
Hmmmm, that isn't possible - they have no shame; that's part of the problem with the VLWC.

Awww Tim.... my favorite sobriquet. You finally got it. Trent "Gutless Wonder" Lott.
To: marajade
I didn't mean to imply that he was. I just stated that some of the blame for this loss falls at his feet as a politician.
To: TBP
Yeah, there is something wrong with Lott. Remember how he set the Senate up for the impeachment?
I think maybe the cards are marked.

The SIN-ate has no shame. After they let the Impeached, Liar, Traitor, Scumbag off the hook, who would think they'd do anything right? The Rats in the US Sinate are no better than bin Ladin.
To: Vladiator
The Dem controlled senate judiciary cmte seemed intent on denying Pickering and it didn't matter one wit what Bush did or didn't do.

Got to agree with there. I remember hearing about all the pardon mess that Clinton was involved in and not one person stated it was because people didn't consider who they voted for in relation to being President. It works in the senate too.

Chip Pickering was on one of the Fox News shows earlier this afternoon. He stated that his father's name is still an active nomination.
I think they are going to wait until November and see what happens in the Senate.
