FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) -- Adam Vinatieri, the New England kicker whose 48-yard field goal as time expired gave the franchise its first Super Bowl championship, signed a multiyear contract Friday.

Vinatieri, 29, was instrumental in the Patriots' improbable playoff run, hitting a 45-yard game-tying field goal and a 23-yard game-winner in driving snow in the Patriots' 16-13 playoff win against the Oakland Raiders. He had five game-winning field goals last season.

Sorry about the vanity post, but here in New England we're still soaking up the Super Bowl victory. The Team is being built the right way, signing and re-signing team players who work hard, and avoiding the high-priced over-paid whiners so prevelent around other teams and sports.

Adam hit the two best kicks EVER, one 45 yarder into the snow to send the playoff game against Oakland into overtime (where he also kicked the game winner), and the Super Bowl winner as time expired.

I have the feeling the Red Sox fans will abandon the team at the first sign of any bickering like they had towards the end of last season. I hope the Sox do good but I am still pretty pessimistic at this point.

Opening day at CMGi Field is gonna be great.
