Post-Dispatch cartoonist John Sherffius has won the Scripps Howard Foundation National Journalism Award for Editorial Cartooning, an honor conferred for his work last year.

In their comments, the contest's judges said they "were impressed with the range of his visual metaphors, and he dealt with a lot of familiar subjects without falling into cliches. We felt this was the most consistently excellent portfolio in a very strong field."

I usually can't stand this guys work, but the cartoon that ran with this story is good.

Yeah right that cartoon about Big Oil and the SUVs posted above weren't cliches

Sad thing is these people really believe it . Like Bernard Goldberg shows in his book BIAS, they really believe think they are MODERATES and those others are RIGHT WING WACKOS

Exactly right. They ignore the mainstream culture of the country by marginalizing it and ignoring it. They replace it with their leftist, urban clique, and claim that it is mainstream. It they really were mainstream, they wouldn't have to lie so often or consistantly. They really scary part is that they lie to themselves, and believe it.

Actually, the smokestack cartoon is excellent!
