FBI chief to visit KL, S'pore
CANBERRA -- The chief of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Robert Mueller will visit Malaysia and Singapore to discuss the latest developments in the war against terrorism. His stops in the two Asian nations follows his low-profile stopover in Australia, where on Tuesday, he held talks with Australian Prime Minister John Howard and other senior ministers. Mr Mueller was due to arrive in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, and, following meetings with Malaysian officials, he will go to Singapore on Thursday. Malaysia and Singapore have carried out dozens of arrests since early December against a network of alleged Islamic militants linked to al-Qaida who were planning to bomb the US embassy and other targets in Singapore. The jailed militants have Indonesian, Singaporean and Malaysian citizenship. Singapore has been leaning on the Indonesian government to take stronger action against militants there. A Malaysian official said Mr Mueller would meet top police officer Norian Mai, but no talks were planned with Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi, who is also home minister in charge of the police force. In Singapore, Mr Mueller will 'discuss joint actions against crime of all kinds but focus on terrorist activities', said a US embassy official in the Republic. Earlier this week, the FBI chief addressed a two-day conference of American, British and New Zealand intelligence officers in New Zealand that the government kept secret until a day after it ended. Both Australia and New Zealand have committed elite commando units to the US-led war on terrorism in Afghanistan. US embassy spokesman Matt Connolly said Mr Mueller's meetings in Australia were private consultations on developments in the war on terrorism. -- AP
Mueller has been rather quiet lately, while Tommy Ridge has discovered primary colors.
Meanwhile, I wonder if Mueller has a comment about that youth his boys shot in the face in Maryland?
