I adopted my son in '74 and my daughter in '78. The cost to me, for lawyer's fees, was $250 and $500, respectively. Even then adoptive children were "scarce". It seems to have gotten exponentially more difficult to adopt. I think the "white" baby adoptive cost may be skewed because many of these are now international adoptions from Eastern Europe (my perception from knowing what a couple of young women who worked for me had to go through).

I believe that the stats refer to domestic adoptions, thus adoptions from Russia or Korea would not factor in. I've heard that some domestic adoptions (of healthy white infants) can be more costly than foreign adoption.

Volume-priced, and with a limited customer base. Black babies make up a much higher percentage of the adoption population than the percentage of blacks in the overall population, which is higher than the percentage of blacks in the adoptive-parents population. (google-searching for the exact numbers...) While not every adoption is monochromatic, they are by far the majority. (I'll try to find the number of black families that adopt white children, but I don't recall ever seeing that breakdown)

One factor in adoption is that quite often they can not place a child across racial lines. A black baby must go to a black parent; an American Indian child is considered the property of the tribe and will not be placed with a non-Indian family.

Too strong a liklihood that a black child who is adopted by whites will become successful and conservative. If this happened only rarely, it wouldn't be a problem, but if there were very many successful black conservatives it would no longer be possible for the media to deny that such people exist.

Not true. Our family has four adopted black babies, and we have been called to take babies for free on a number of occasions. It always bothers me that prolifers do not adopt in much greater number than the general population

You are absolutely right. White skin is prized. I have seen people walk over a black adoption to adopt a somewhat broken white baby.

Dont bet on the ocean protecting their child. I have run into more overseas adopted children who have decided to go back to their country of origin to live. Aside from the guilt when being picked whild others die.

All they have to deal with now is the ignorant morons who see them out with their kids and say stupid shit like, "Oh....pity you couldn't have children of your own." They do have one biological child, BTW, but being staunchly pro-life, when it came to having other children, they decided to walk the walk and adopt unwanted children.

Sounds like people who are walking the walk. Never, ever go through the state in an adoption. Always go to agencies.

I'm a computer programmer. Every time I type the word "IF" I am telling a program to discriminate. Discrimination is a VERY GOOD THING. Sometimes it is improperly exercised, but that is a different subject altogether.
