Yes, and it was formed by a group of wealthy ski buffs to fight in the European alps. There was a great show on the history channel about the 10th a few months back. Interesting story.

There is a statue in Aspen dedicated to the memory of the Ski soldiers of the 10th Mountain. They trained in Aspen during WW II and some them returned after the war to help build Aspen into a major ski resort.
