Leftists in Richmond denounce pledge as "Politically Correct" <barf alert>

The Arlington [Va.] County Board is calling proposals that members recite the pledge of allegiance before meetings "divisive" and "politically correct" and has steadfastly refused to alter its agenda to permit the pledge to be said.

A citizen first questioned during a council meeting in November the absence of a pledge recital by board members. The members didn't respond, but Coast Guard veteran Robert Molleur, sitting in the audience, did.

Amazingly, the left is now insisting the pledge is "politically correct" AND divisive. I thought those two were mutually exclusive. Just like a 'Rat to realize that PC is unnatural, and then try to use it as a label to smear Conservatives.

Those of us who live in Arlington/Alexandria area are not suprised by any of this. These are leftists, every bit as much as Marin County. The fact that they consider the Pledge to be "divisive" and dismiss veterans as Republican stooges sums up their view of the world. Remember, this is Jim Moran territory. Still, it is great that these guys torture the liberals and force them to denounce the Pledge.

That's right it's devisive! In private life anyone can do whatever they want, but any public officeholder that doesn't want to demonstrate their loyalty and recite the Pledge of Allegiance needs to be singled out as anti-American and not worthy of their position. A century ago these types were run out of town on a rail or tarred and feathered. Where's the feathers??

I can't believe that Freepers, of all people, think it's a great idea to force someone to say a pledge, any pledge. The reason the USA is the great country it is, is due to our freedom from this kind of compulsion. Either we are a free people or we are not.

Richmond is 100 miles from Arlington by I-95
and 1000 miles from Northern Virginia politically.
Arlington is not "Richmond".

In the greater DC area the saying (and the attitude) is:
"Everything south of Dale City is Arkansas".

(Dale City is a perimeter suburb)
