My pediatrician asked several years ago....I smiled & said politely "None of your business."
To: Don Myers
I would like to see what kind of databases are made up from these questions.
========
It's probably as bad as we could possibly immagine.
But I don't really give a *. I almost never go to the doctor anyway. About once per year for a sinus infection is all. I've never had any tests done for anything and I probably never will. I've never had a physical in my life. I can't remember ever having a tetanus shot. But whenever someone asks me i say: "sure, just about a year or two ago" just so I won't have to get one. When I participated in sports, in school, I would keep telling the coach "I got an appointment next week to get the phsical". I was lying, I never got an appointment and eventually he would forget about it.

Doctors kill more American's every year than the number killed with guns. Many times over...
To: JeepInMazar
Your note was more diplomatic than what I told him. I said it was NONE, repeat NONE, of their freaking business.
To: Rockyrich
Quit the AMA, and save on dues.

Very informative insight. Thanks! What's your view of the percentage of doctors that are members of the AMA? And are the majority lefties?
To: Rockyrich
Well doc it's none of your f...ing business. But since you asked I have a .22, a .25, a .32, a .44, a 9mm, a .45, a 8mm, a 7.62 mm, a .30 carbine, and a 12 gage. It's a healty collection and it's growing, I really miss my old .357. Now if you don't mind I would like you to refer me to another doctor that isn't going to ask about my guns in the wrong context. How is your malpractice insurance doing ?

Your note was more diplomatic than what I told him. I figured that he would get ripped badly my most letter writers, so I thought I would give him the chance to see a different tone.
To: Rockyrich

First hand experience. I went in for a physical two weeks ago. The Lady Doc asked if I had guns. I told her I was just like every other guy. I just had one and it was for fun.

If I ever came into possesion of a .25 I would not admit it to anyone, anywhere, ever. I have a NAA .22 short, 5 round pistol that fits into 100mm Cigarette flip top box.....
I wonder what that says about my manhood?
To: Bigun

My daughter was having a problem at the time so she definitely needed treatment. I figured we would get the same bs at another new doctor. Luckily she was raised by us and on Rush, so she can recognize bs. While she was getting ready for the doctor, she asked me to fill it out so I pretty much checked no to everything.
To: Rockyrich
What you don't realize is that every special interest group wants every doctor at every visit to ask their favorite questions. BUt the HMO's give you ten minutes to see the patient and write a 400 word documentation so that you can bill a lot of money for the ten minute visit.
We are supposed to ask about guns. And seatbelt use. And if a woman is abused by anyone. And if they cover the plugs so kids can't burn their fingers. And if they have been exposed to toxic substances. And If they wear sunblock to protect themselves against skin cancer. And if they smoke. And if they drink. And if they use illegal drugs. And if they have side effects from any or all medications. And if they've traveled overseas. And if they are gay. And if they have more than one sexual partner. And if they use condoms. And if they cover themselves protectively when they jog so they don't catch lyme disease. And if they put the baby to sleep with a bottle. And if they have a satisfying sex life.
I might ask a young person with a toddler if they lock up dangerous things, and go over the things to lock up, including guns, detergents, medications, and drano. I might ask the parents of a suicidal teen to hide their guns. But if I asked every patient if they had a gun, I'd be wasting my time. Everyone around here owns a gun. Big deal. It would be like asking if anyone owns a motor vehicle.
