WASHINGTON (AP) -- Wiping away tears, President Bush told families of slain U.S. servicemen "we ache for you" and predicted more American troops would die in the war against terrorism.

"We will take loss of life," Bush said Friday. "And I'm sad for loss of life."

President Bush gets emotional Friday morning March 8, 2002 in St. Petersburg, Fla., as he acknowledges the families of two soldiers killed Monday in Afghanistan. With the families of two slain U.S. soldiers seated in the front row, Bush said, ``I know your heart aches and we ache for you, but your son and brother died for a noble and just cause.''(AP Photo/Chris O'Meara)

Please someone tell me I am wrong on this, but this is slowly turning into another potential Vietnam disaster. I know that possibility is a long way off, but the way we are running this operation, things aren't looking good so far. I think our pathetic RINO government is sadly underestimating the will of the Afghan fighters.

Get a grip, man. This isn't a Vietnam. This latest battle has been going on for what, 6 days, and already you are ready to give up and say, oh no - it's Vietnam all over again. Let's get out now before we get too involved. Show a little courage and patience. Sheesh.

Sheesh!

We've killed over SEVEN HUNDRED Al-Qaeda.

Besides, these aren't "Afghan fighters"; they're Saudis, and Pakistanis, and Uzbeks.

They're going to fight to the death, and the United States Military is obliging them.

I think you are underestimating the will of the AMERICAN military !

The public may get weak in the knees but the military won't - for a long time anyway !

OK...You are dead wrong on this!

Vietnam was a disaster because the DEM run govt. of Kennedy and Johnson couldn't help but manage the war from the oval office. They tied both hands behind the back of our fabulous military and said "go win this one boys!" What's remarkable in all this is that even so crippled, our boys were able to just about hold their own, but at a great cost.

I suspect you are fairly young and, forgive me, naive. When you go to war, you don't hold back anything. The purpose is to win, not to look good doing it.

The adults currently in office understand this. Don't fear for another Vietnam, we're not holding anything back when it comes to routing out these scum.

May God sustain President George W. Bush, and may God rest the souls of our fallen military.

That does appear to be the way the battle at Gardez is evolving, but check out Jack Kelly's piece on Jewish World Review online today (I'd link to it but I'm HTML deprived) - there are evidently survivals of the Vietnam syndrome mindset still among the commanders. This plus word of some griping at the Pentagon that ground troops have been sent into the current battle too early, indicates the old thinking is far from totally gone.

You are wrong.

However, you do seem to know one of the words that generates a (left) knee jerk reaction; 'Vietnam'. You should extend your vocabulary to include others. 'Quagmire' and 'Woman's right to choose' come immediately to mind. 'Right wing christian extremist' is a good one' as is 'angry white male'. 'Racist' of course, is multi-purpose and can be used in virtually any context.

Have a nice cliche.

"Bush has issued mixed messages on bin Laden since Sept. 17 when he urged Americans not to focus on the terrorist mastermind -- even as he pledged to get him "dead or alive."

There are more sniping weasels at the Communist liberal Associated Press (AP) than in any Afghan cave.

Smoke out these b@st@rds.

I just find it interesting that when Bush cries it's patriotic but when Clinton cried it was staged.

When did Clinton ever cry? The SOB FAKED crying, at Ron Brown's funeral, but I don't recall him ever actually shedding tears.

He wasn't capable of sharing someone else's sorrow; his narcissistic obsession with himself wouldn't allow it.
