Thanks for the ping, Dan. I am very proud of Simon. Now the hard part begins. Simonizing Davis...a wax job I will enjoy seeing!

The hallucinations are in contrast to life as it is under Governor Gray Davis, with fitful power supplies, high taxes, high deficits, and a generation of schoolchildren being taught illiteracy in two languages. The prospect of a young, idealistic conservative who has already practiced beating the odds may prove appealing. It would be fine if the Republican presidential nominating convention in 2004 took place in Sacramento, and were welcomed by Governor William E. Simon Jr. Yes, nice indeed. Buckley is always a good read. Davis is vulnerable, and if we can antagonize him ... send him off the deep edge by bringing up his mistakes ... he'll lose it like he apparently did at the San Diego Union-Tribune editorial board meeting. (See Thread: I kept the lights on!)
Go Simon!

Thanks for the ping! Good article. Even though I had a horrible cold, hubby and I got ourselves down to the polls and voted for Simon. We watched the election returns, and when the projections showed Simon way ahead, I went to bed happy (with my medicinal brandy, no mint julep).

Yes, Doofus will unwind himself further knowing even his leftwing can't stand him. But that won't keep those swine from trying to pull dirty tricks just to keep in practice. (Kinda like the Klintonistas with their "why tell the truth when a good lie will do").
Keeping Simon lightfooted and feeling safe with those on his right is what we can help provide here.
Keeping suspects like Bob Novak at somewhat of a distance from him is also not a bad idea.

and a generation of schoolchildren being taught illiteracy in two languages. Is this a great quote or what?
Dan, did you see the _hit piece by Thomas Ellias a couple days ago in the Sac Bs.

I can see Carvile packing his bags now to come to Ca. and demonize Simon... for a fee, of course.

Even in California, there are those who will ask themselves: If Simon is elected, does that mean the Supreme Court will rescind Roe v. Wade? If he is elected, will people negotiate their differences with six-shooters? If elected, will California beaches simply disappear? Heard on local talk radio this morning--
that Simon is pro-choice AND pro-life. Rumor mill is starting to churn.

which talk radio?

yep...and I clipped that quote too. great minds think alike.

I read the Los Angeles Times today and Gray Davis' thug Garry South wants to change the discussion to Bill Simon. No wonder Davis can't afford to talk about his record --- he doesn't have one. And while Bill Simon got off to a good start on education, he should take a page out of Ron Unz's book and slam Davis' support of bilingual education, something the voters rejected in 1998. Its a terrific issue for Simon to run on and its one that Dan Lungren steadfastly ignored in the fall campaign. If Simon is not going to morph into a RINO, there's a Davis' weakness on education worth very much exploiting.

No its really Garry South, the guy who put Dick Riordan's head on a pike. He's one mean fella.

Bill Simon IS pro-life. But as Governor he can't end abortion even if he wanted to. You can bet though Gray Davis will make it look like not being opposed to killing unborn children is a terrible thing and he's going to hammer away at Simon, not out of a concern for principle, but as I mentioned earlier, to change the subject cause Davis can't afford to have the election turned into a referendum on his administration of California as Governor.
