If there's anything to reports that CBS might replace David Letterman with Howard Stern if Letterman jumps to ABC, Stern's critics will be ready with a full-scale boycott.
The (self syled-ed.) King of All Media-whose radio show propelled Mel Karmazin into the vice chairmanship of Viacom/CBS-has often boasted he could dominate late night TV.
But Catholic League president William Donohue thunders, "CBS is out of its mind if it thinks it can get away with moving Howard Stern into the Letterman slot without a fight."
Donohue who plans to target one advertiser at a time, said, "No one in the entertainment business has angered more Americans than Howard Stern."
Ah, yes. The "wisdom of the American People" on which Clinton relied to vindicate himself throughout impeachment.
Please know that I've respect for the intellect and discerning of a population of talking long pigs who hail Larry Flynt as the zenith of "Free Speech" freedom fighter.
No, what it shows is how little the Catholic League knows about Howard Stern.
Standards applied mean quality ... V's wife.
That should be the Quote of the Day!"

Sad, that the homosexual left is ahead on this one and practicing damage control to seperate pedophiles from what apparently is an endemic number of homosexual priests in its ranks. Smart people in 'that' movement recognize that it will not take too much of a logical leap for the public to understand why the Boy Scouts have such a policy towards homosexuals; namely, pedophiles are bad for business.
Clinton's image was salvaged by a compliant news media who manipulated the case into something it was not. If it's any consolation, less people take the media seriously because of the impeachment ordeal, and Bill Clinton is respected by very few.
I do NOT want to live in your theocracy, especially when it has shown itself not to be above corruption and hypocrisy (like just about every other institution of man).
yup, it's people like me causing the decline and fall of western society - raising my children to be good citizens, working for a living, and trying to contribute to my community. How do you even get on that high horse, much less ride it?
I'm sorry ... you can't have it both ways, fella.
If you're going to champion Stern's butt-bongo, you're going to have to take Larry's up-close-and-personal anus shots as part of the deal. It's either female modesty or females as objects. The flesh is either uncovered (artistically to obscenely) or it's covered.
Same as human life. Either you champion it from the moment of conception or you take your arbitrary "belief" in what constitutes a FULL human person and allow Every Other Man his own likewise arbitrary interpretation (including infanticide and euthanasia of the clearly failing and unfit).
Judging by your post, it's possible Western Society has failed you.
Howard Stern has the most popular radio show in the country. If his material was anything like Flint's, it wouldn't be. That's the free market. Larry Flint has power within a very small community because of this. You talk about Larry Flint as if he was a household name, and he's not.
Are you always this confused...or did I hit your fragile ego where it hurts?
No where in my statement did I suggest a "theocracy," nor did I suggest the actions of Cardinal Law are to be absolved or forgotten. I did suggest there is a problem of continuing to allow imorality a "public forum" to preach a one-way hatred of all things Christian!
If you want to reply, go ahead...I'm off to a fund-raiser to support a charitable organization... so I won't be able to reply until (probably) 9 P.M. PST...
But you just go about telling yourself what a great father you are ...kids just love to hear their parents say "It's bad for you...but I can't take a public stand against it...becuse people might think I'm intolerant!"
I hope you succeed in raising your children to be fine moral, caring human beings! Sincerely!
Perhaps you can point out to them the great men and women of history who sat back and did nothing!
you don't have to mention the word theocracy to wish it upon us...look at your statement "a problem of continuing to allow immorality a public forum", what exactly does that suggest to you? It sounds as though you want to shut it down because it is immoral - looks, walks and talks like a theocracy to me, when religious beliefs dictate that which can be communicated/spoken publically. Clearly the confusion is yours. Nice try, though, in pretending the issue is mine. Have you looked at the constitution recently/ever?
As far as the cardinal is concerned, exactly how is he any better than Howard Stern? Why are you not railing against him for allowing child sex offenders to continue their assaults? Howard only talks about degradation, the cardinal *enabled* it. He is the poster child for those who do nothing about the problem. Please take your blinders off, but be careful, the view may be startling to you.
As to David Horowitz, that is not a fair comparison: nobody is suggesting jamming the frequency should Stern be permitted to broadcast, which would be a more appropriate analogy. We are suggesting that Donohue be able to excercise his right to freely speak and protest and encourage others to do the same, in a dignified manner. I can't speak to the Justice Thomas situation, but that speech may have been sponsored by a private student group and the students then had the option of attending or not. Certainly, they had the right to object and protest and register complaints, which is different from preventing someone else's right to speak, as in the Horowitz case.
Let's also make the further distinction that political speech is protected speech, as long as it is not treasonous, as you no doubt know. Obscene speech is not protected, and though we have had an eight year run with an emasculated Justice Department unwilling to uphold community standards ( the fallout being this kind of sophistry of mixing one kind of argument with another to advance obscenity under free speech) nontheless, Donohue is right and within bounds to challenge what the legal arm of the government has not had the temerity to do. V's wife.
The truth, however, is the truth. And one must be a man for all seasons about it. V's wife.
We do however, have a Judeo-Christian culture and civililzation, yes even still and just by a thread; and the plurality of that feature of our population which embraces that culture, coupled with our republican form of government, accounts for our widely held views. Even if the courts, special interest groups, and certain elites don't like it. V's wife.
