There is another thread on this. Apparently the FBI has denied that there was any spy ring, and none of the Israelis were charged with espionage, just immigration violations. Looks like a red herring story to me.

These were not mossad agents... just arab Israeli citizens here doing art and infrastructure "research."
Arabs by birth more than likely, and using their "Israeli" status to get in, where their saudi friends could not. Cute tricks.
Folks would LIKE to paint Israel as a problem in any way they can... won't work...

What better places are there? Join left wing organizations to get info.
Cut through the open boarder system of bleeding heart liberals.
Head for the NEA handouts sponsered by bleeding heart liberals.
Pretend to be part of the 'arts' to express bleeding heart liberalist expression.
Maybe join a few socialists in protests to make it look real.
I'm sure there are many, many more burried in our free socialist programs. Millions from every country around the world doing the same thing.
The Democrat politicians wonder why no one wants to give them any important info. DUH!

"The DEA report said a majority of the students questioned by U.S. investigators acknowledged having served in military intelligence, electronic signals interception or explosive ordnance units in the Israeli military. The DEA said one person questioned was the son of a two-star Israeli general, one had served as the bodyguard to the head of the Israeli Army and another served in a Patriot missile unit."
"The DEA report said that among U.S. sites apparently targeted was Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, home to the military's AWACS surveillance planes and the place where many of the nation's B-1 bombers are repaired. Investigators also said that one female art student went to the home of a worker for the Environmental Protection Agency in Denver to sell paintings and returned later to photograph the house, according to the report."

arab Israeli citizens here doing art and infrastructure "research."On to dodge #2, are we? First dozen times this was reported, FOX wasn't credible! FOX backed off the story! FOX had to take it off their website and asked FR to pull it from here too!
All that said, I don't care if Israeli did spy on us. If I were an ally and Clinton was president, I would darn well send spies here.

The Fox story had the same whiff as this one to me. Nobody on the record. Lots of secondhand stuff, but no beef. Where's the beef? I am not worried about a bunch of art students. Much more worried about bombers and airplanes and Islamic jihadists.

A draft report from the Drug Enforcement Administration - which first characterized the activities as suspicious - said the youths' actions "may well be an organized intelligence-gathering activity." Officially deported for immigration violations, possibly unofficially for organized intelligence-gathering

Tbat sounds more like it. Such clumsy "surveillance" work, which did more to draw attention to itself, than to gather intelligence on American security personnel/installations, doesn't sound at all like the Sabras.

I did have one of these "students" knock on my door at home here in Boca Raton. She was hawking her art in the neighborhood. Looked to be College Coed. She id'ed herself as Israeli student.

Article about the French source including FBI denial of spy ring::
Here'Intelligence Online, a Paris-based newsletter that reported on the study Monday, said some 120 Israeli spies had been arrested or expelled and inquiries were continuing.
Asked by Reuters Monday about the Intelligence Online report, an FBI spokesman called it a "bogus story." The spokesman said: "There wasn't a spy ring."
U.S. Justice Department spokeswoman Susan Dryden said on Tuesday in response to the Le Monde report, "At this time, we have no information to support this." U.S. officials said some Israeli students had been sent out of the country for immigration violations, not for spying.'
