Judge Lamberth strikes down discriminatory Army promotion policy
DC District Court ^ | 3/4 | Judge Royce Lamberth

Judge Lamberth - who many of you know is a great judge - yesterday issued a 68-page decision striking an Army policy promoting women and minorities at the expense of white men.

I haven't read it yet, but it looks like an equal protection challenge, and according the Post the Army presented no evidence of a history of discrimination; thus there was no constitutional basis for remedial discrimination in promotions.

A positive decision if the implications are carried out: no preferences on board selections, command or promotion decisions.

Don't get your hopes up yet until the results of the next few boards are looked at. Watch especially promotions to Sergeant Major or selection for Command and General Staff College, War Colleges (Naval, Air), etc. There are still plenty of Clinton holdovers left at the Pentagon so we'll see.
