(12:20) Palestinians report four dead, dozens wounded in Jenin
Palestinian sources say at least four Palestinians were killed and dozens wounded in the heavy and ongoing exchanges of gunfire between Palestinians and army forces in the camp, Israel Radio reported.
They also say Israeli helicopters began firing on the camp a short time ago.
The four dead include two women and a leader of Fatah's Aksa Martyrs Brigade. Palestinian sources say the leader was involved in attacks against Israelis and was wanted by Israeli security forces.
An Israeli soldier was lightly wounded. For more information on the army's operation in Jenin, which it re-entered last night, click here. The IDF is also operating in Tamun, southeast of Jenin.
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said the IDF will enter more refugee camps so that terrorists will not be able to operate from them.
The security cabinet last night approved an operation recommended by the IDF to put constant military pressure on the Palestinian Authority and Palestinian terrorist groups. To read more about the cabinet meeting, click here.
In addition, a Palestinian security force member involved in a shootout with soldiers in the Balata refugee camp Thursday died of his wounds last night. Fifteen Palestinian gunmen were killed after the IDF entered the Balata and Jenin camps.
