Hope they outlaw rocks as well. A rock thrown correctly can cause all kinds of injuries.

My 11 and 9 year old children shoot their airguns all the time. They both have undergone hunter/gun safety training and shoot without my direct supervision. I do, however, keep a watchful eye on them occasionally to be sure they follow the rules.
I live on three acres adjacent to open, undeveloped land. They are free to roam this area with their airguns, just as I did when I was a kid. Things are sure changing.

On a related note...

Due to the propensity of children to fashion projectile weapons from drinking straws, children advocate groups and anti-gun forces are now calling for government regulation of drinking straws.

This is off the subject a bit, but....WE have three boys and for Christmas, my wife and I bought four (one for me) paintball guns. They are even better than a BB gun, since you can shoot each other with them. This gift has been great for all of us, but most of all me. Nothin beats hitting your own kid with a flying projectile. Not to mention, the kids don't mind whackin the old man once in a while.

Sorry if anyone takes offense at this, but seriously, this is the most darn fun my kids and I have had together in a long time. We play all kinds of games from caputure the flag to a game where you have to get hit 3 times (and these babies hurt/sting when they hit) before you are out. The woods behind my house is a perfect playground. We keep an ammo dump near an old stump....out in the open. If you run out of ammo, you have to brave open ground to reload.....My 15 year old has great aim and sits in wait for us to reload at the stump. Our battles last anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour. By the end of each battle, we are usually pumped up and ready to go back at the other team, particularly if you lose. Did I mention how much fun it is to hit your kid with a paintball? I get particular pleasure in hitting my oldest (occasional wise a$$) in the rump.

Whoever invented paintball was a genius. Sorry my post was a bit off the subject, but I am amazed paintball guns haven't been banned....hope they never are

I think the buck knife used in the movie "Scream" is way more deadly.

Hells Bells! I had beanie-flippers, pea-shooters, and, a bow and arrows set when I was a kid. My old Daisy wasn't anymore lethal than those.

Whoever invented paintball was a genius.

You're tempting me to buy a few paintball guns and organize my own games with friends/family.

I used to play a lot when paintball was getting started, but as it became more and organized, and you had to get more and more sophisticated gear simply to keep up, I lost interest.

I'd like to get back to the simpler days of goggles, guns, and paint without the uniforms, camo, rapid-fire magazines, etc. So thanks for story.

Yah. especially if it's capable of flinging rocks. Those rocks are nasty. Especially the ones made by (insert local gravel company name here)! I've got a box of armor piercing bb's for sale if anyone wants them. Willing to trade for teflon coated steelies for use in my soon to be banned wrist rocket.

Piss-offfffff gun-grabbers!!!!!!!!!

You know, I have a few friends who say the same thing. I've never participated in paintball shooting, although, my son is currently working on me to have a paintball gun.
It looks like I'm going to have to check this out.

I can imagine the collective fits the gungrabbers would have if they knew my 11 year old son could competently handle my little Walther PPK/S.

It gives me great pleasure as a father to see my kids shoot well!

Fear the government that fears your kid's BB gun!
