>>...Al Qaeda Beat Off U.S.-Backed Afghan Troops...<<
Perverts.

What is the dateline for this story?

It sounds like the attackers (us) were outnumbered by the defenders by roughly 10:1. This is the reverse of the rule of thumb for an attacking force to overcome an entrenched defensive force. It the reports are accurate, we need a lot more heavy bombing and a LOT more boots on the ground. And a lot less sensitivity about "collateral damage".

"Sounds like Al Qaeda is coordinating their attacks with Daschle, Byrd, Hollings and Gephardt." Those bastards!!
Central command confirms 1 American killed, 2 Afgan killed, in battle south of Gardez, Pentagon now says 4,000 Al Quida regrouping in the area..the Americans were outnumbered.
According to Brett Baer, the pentagon is claiming the offensive is somewhat successful, the mission was a success, but they haven't described it. Details have not come out from Central Command. Tony Snow warning viewers, this early coverage is "fog of war" reporting, information could change.

I somehow doubt the US-backed troops, aided by air power, were "beaten" as the anti-US American press (as well as others) are reporting it. I'll give it 24 hrs for the truth to flow out.

Yeah. When I was in RVN there was a Stars and Stripes front page headline: MARINES BEAT OFF NVA BATTALLION. We got a big laugh out of that one!

This has, sadly but likely, put a huge smile on Tommy DascHOLE's face.

What are we doing in these absolute hellholes like Afghanistan and Somalia, etc.? Young lives are being sacrificed to what end? Soldiers are dying due to equipt. failures (thanks Billy and Hilly), missions that seemingly have no purpose except to satisfy some U.N. freak that wants our military to be the policemen of the world and those in our gov't. that see our troops as modern day mercenaries for the oil lobby. As patriotic Americans many of us know what our duty is if OUR strategic interests are ever threatened but some of this idiocy scares me to death especially now when there's talk of a renewal of the draft.
