GOP gubernatorial contender Richard Riordan acknowledged Thursday that a deluge of attack ads have left voters with questions about where he stands on issues. But he said he's not second-guessing himself.

"You take somebody that's been in the public eye for years, and particularly somebody like myself who before I was (Los Angeles) mayor didn't even consider being in elective office, so I thought out loud," Riordan said during a wide-ranging interview with the Contra Costa Newspapers editorial board.

"I must say, they've done their dirty work pretty well. But to say I would have done differently would have made me somebody other than myself, Dick Riordan."

Whoa, that's a little abstract, let's see what the de-spin-erator makes of it:

"I must say, they've done their dirty homework pretty well. But to say I would have done differently would have made me somebody other than myself fall even farther behind than our current internal polls show I have, Dick Riordan."

Just what I thought, panic in the Lex Luther camp that Superman Simon is on to them, and so are the California conservative voters. Good night Dick.

Bwahahaha!!! Dickie Pooh delivers to conservatives a lecture on tolerating differences. That's the funniest couple of sentences to come out of his mouth ever since he began his misgotten and about to be aborted quest for the Republican gubernatorial nomination last fall. The truth is he absolutely detests and loathes conservatives and wants to drive us out of the party altogether. This is Dickie Pooh's definition of tolerating differences. What he means is a GOP in which every one is welcome, except conservatives. Now its understood since we're so hateful and intolerant of others, why would we have a place in his party? He's right. And if we're so stupid as to nominate him the Republican candidate for Governor next week, we'll then be REALLY irrelevant. Let's not buy this puffery that we have to water down our views to gain respect from the Rats and RINOs or we'll truly become the Rodney Dangerfield of CA politics. The irony is, that's exactly who Dickie Pooh is and all the attack ads on him have underscored the fact he's more dangerous to this State's future than even Gray Davis. Dickie Pooh is the enemy of freedom and traditional values in CA and to help our party survive he needs to be defeated on March 5th. Let's roll!!!

quote: Lungren lost because of his unyielding positions against abortion and gun control, Riordan said. But Simon "listens to people that run his campaign and he's not as principled as Dan Lungren," Riordan said.

What a dick. He's pissed he's going to lose.

Riordan plunged from a 40-point lead over Simon just a few weeks ago to slightly behind him in a Field poll released this week.

LOL! The Field poll is a leftist poll that takes its respondents out of LA and SF, and thus is skewed towards liberal interests. When the Sacto and San Joaquin valleys speak, we have Simon to put up against Gray-out! Swwwwweeeeeet!
Regards,
