A truce between two of the countrys largest motorcycle gangs both of which have chapters in New Hampshire is breaking down, and law enforcement officials are concerned that the violence which comes with turf wars will escalate. Last week 23 bikers, seven of whom are from New Hampshire, were arrested outside a club in Revere, Mass., heavily armed and apparently ready for a battle with an unidentified rival biker gang, police said. Those under arrest are reportedly members of the Outlaws motorcycle club, once arch-rivals and deadly foes of the Hells Angels. New Hampshire State Police Lt. Terrence Kinneen said yesterday that a truce between the two gangs, signed in 1999, has broken down recently. The result, officials have said, is a return to attacks by one group on another, including a fight that broke out last month at the Strange Brew Tavern in Manchester between Outlaws and Hells Angels. Everyone is heavily armed right now, said Kinneen, an international expert on motorcycle gangs. He said the gangs also are recruiting heavily, taking in a number of new members. In last weekends incident in Massachusetts, Revere Police Lt. Dennis Collyer said weapons were confiscated, including two 10-round 9mm Glock pistol magazines, a number of pocket knives, a ball-peen hammer, a chain with a lock and one with a hook, large capacity gun magazines, a folding fish knife, 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 10 rounds of 38-caliber ammunition, brass knuckles, baseball bats and cocaine. One of the Massachusetts men was carrying two guns, a Glock 9mm gun and a Smith & Wesson .38 revolver. Massachusetts State Police and Revere police arrested the crowd before they were able to get inside the private club, officials said. The New Hampshire men arrested are: Girard P. Conti, 58, of Alton; James W. Deveau, 54, of 32 Mast Road, Epping; William J. Ellis, 57, of 101 Foster Pond Road, Alexandria; Robert G. Holmes, 34, of 33 Evelyn Ave., Raymond; Shawn E. Marcotte, 28, of 10 Epping St., Raymond; Robert McCluskey, 50, of 28 Gulf Road, Derry, and Perry Spooner, 52, of 59 N. Mast Road, Goffstown. Twenty-two of the men were released on personal recognizance bail. Bail for Holmes was set at $1,000 cash/corporate surety, according to David Procopio of the Suffolk County District Attorneys Office. Procopio said McCluskey is on federal probation on a conviction for destroying mail. Collyer said a bulletproof vest and a 45-caliber automatic gun were found in Holmes vehicle. When arrested, Holmes was carrying two 45-caliber rounds of ammunition, a boot knife and a canister of mace. The men face pre-trial hearings in Chelsea (Mass.) District Court March 19 and 21. Kinneen said yesterday the disintegration of the truce has also caused law enforcement officials to focus extra attention on recent motorcycle shows and swap meets, which are like spring flower shows for motorcycle enthusiasts. There were no problems in Salem about three weeks ago, he said, nor were any troubles reported in Manchester at the National Guard Armory on Sunday. One law enforcement official said the Manchester event was attended by large numbers of Hells Angels and clubs from the area who are known supporters of the Hells Angels, including the Iron Eagles of Derry, the Salem-based Talons and the Weare-based Milford and Co. Also in attendance were a number of members of the newly formed Red Devils of Nashua, the official said. The Hells Angels and the Outlaws established their first chapters in the Granite State two years ago, although the Hells Angels have had a number of small clubs with which they have been affiliated for a number of years. The international truce, signed just before the two groups set up shop in New Hampshire, brought an apparently temporary end to a war that had been waged for years and had its beginnings here 30 years ago as the annual motorcycles races in Loudon came to an end. Apparently heading home after the races, Hells Angel Kevin Gilroy was blown from his bike on Interstate 93 in Londonderry by a gunshot fired by Dean Dayutis, a member of the Devils Disciples, a gang with close ties to the Outlaws. Gilroy died and Dayutis went on the run but was captured in 1983 in Key West, Fla. He was convicted of second-degree murder. For a number of years, members of the Outlaws continued to travel to New Hampshire for the annual motorcycle races, but rarely were they seen wearing their club colors, the emblems on the backs of their jackets and vests that proclaim their club name. The rivalry spawned a number of attacks and counter-attacks in New Hampshire, with weapons ranging from guns to baseball bats and ball-peen hammers. While a number of people were injured, only one other has died, so far, in the war in New England: William Cat Michaels, 45-year-old Devils Disciple president from Londonderry was run down and dragged to his death in Weymouth, Mass., in 1995.
Supposedly grown men, most well into their 50's.............engaging in gang warfare. How cute.
Some folks just refuse to grow up.
I find the age of some of those arrested quite interesting.
Lemme understand this. In NH two loose rounds of ammo is considered a weapon? Heck, 95% of the people in Texas are armed then!!

It's getting to where only those over 50 can afford a Harley, the official bike of the gangs (and wannabe Rich Urban Bikers).
These are the same people the DNC has a major campaign afoot to regain the right to vote (having lost this right as felons).
The theory is that most will vote Democrat.
I have no doubt that this is completely accurate since all studies indicate that bona fide career criminals overwhelmingly favor the Democrat Party.
Just like members of the media and NAMBLA!
Brokaw called thier fathers the greatest generation, and he is right.
Who will write the book, "the better generation, 1945-1955". We gave you Mia Lie, Kent State, The SLA, Blackpanthers. MLK, JFK, RFK...nobody. If there ever was a lost generation it is the Boomers. They are still grappling for identity.
Who is Al Gore, a boomer, George W Bush, Bill Clinton, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson? Who are they? All boomers, still trying to find them selves.
Unless George W Bush is a man before his time we have another generation to go before we have men, and women of conviction that can properly lead this nation.

Driving up to austin last weekend, the truck had: 5" Kimber in the console between the seats w/5 mags, 4" kimber w/2 mags on driver, girlfriend had SIG 239 w/spare mag, .380 in purse, and .357 Rossi lever gun under the rear seat w/3 speed strips.
That's not really "heavily armed", just a function of A) keeping a hand gun and long gun in the truck b) driver/girlfriend having CHLs.
But if that's not really "heavily armed" then the little chains & bats & hammers don't really meet the definition either...
