Let's not kid ourselves and recall the primary purpose of commercial telebision in this country. Would showing the tape help the advertisers sell their products? Or, at the very least, how would it affect the sales of their products?
To: Revolting cat!
Well ..what they are selling is Fundamental Islamic Fanaticism...Anything to get the word out that the product is defective will help.

Showing the video of Pearl being killed by having his head cut off would be a slap in the face for many adult Americans. It might wake them up. They might understand what this is all about. Precisely. This isn't just a bad Jerry Bruckheimer movie that almost everyone's put out of their minds by now. This is a war of darkness and unmitigated eveil against civilization itself. These monsters want us all dead and without cavil or compromise. Every single one of then must be killed.

If we have to play the tape, so that the average American will know what we are up against, play the damned tape! It's sad that we would need to do that, we should already be aware of the nature of our enemy, however our own press is on their side, and that is why we have to shock the American public back into reality.

I think that there are many out there that still need to be made aware of exactly the type of people we are dealing with here. For that reason, I believe it necessary to air the tape.
And if you don't want to watch it...CHANGE THE F-ING CHANNEL!!!. I will never understand why when one person doesn't want to watch, it means no one can.

For those who remain opposed to depicting this savage murder, please respond to the double standard that has been posed on this list. Why are we treated to scenes of carnage such as the servicemen in Somalia being dragged through the streets, but this video cannot be shown? Are you also suggesting that the Somalian video should not be shown as well?
Where do you draw the line?
To encounter our enemies on their turf, we must abandon our complacent "it can't happen to us" worldview. The video is important to depict what Americans are up against.
Watch Jay Leno tonight to get a read on where the "War on Terrorism" stands. It's all jokes about it. Americans do not take this stuff seriously and still view the violence as something that happens to someone else. Why are we going to perpetuate this myth by suddenly developing scruples about when violent images are appropriate?

Whatever. You missed the point entirely.

Yeah, your right. Let's view the tape. Then the next time something happens, let's play that to death to.
Here's a novel idea, do something about it now so there is no next time. Last time I checked, Joe Citizen is not in charge of the US Military, President Bush is. You can rest assured that he's seen the tape, and is indeed doing something about it.

I hope that this tape will INDEED force the people to DEMAND that the Palestinians and Saudis be EXPELLED IMMEDIATELY!!!! Why dont you just form your own private army and wage jihad against the millions of Muslims overseas. Talk is cheap.

I don't draw the line ONLY when it is convenient to a utopian. Muslims are being misrepresented as loving, peaceful, no violent folks. This couldn't be more untrue adn why THIS video must be shown.

Two more examples of why the video needs to be shown from a half-hour session of TV viewing last night: JAG has an upcoming show on activity in Afghanistan and The Agency is opening plugging 9-11 in its ads featuring Beau Bridges.
If the events of 9-11 have devolved into drama storylines for very bad television shows, it is very clear the American populace is inching towards the view that what happened in NY was a video game and not the real thing.
That video would demonstrate this is not the stuff of JAG episodes.
