HBO fielded a presidential candidate in 1988. His name was Jack Tanner. He was a fictional Democratic congressman running for president, and a number of prominent Democrats made appearances on the show in a mock cinema verite. Tanner even had a mistress!

Dammit! They stole my idea! I had already planned a run in 2008! I figured I'd get myself a tour bus, and my harley, and get some tax payer funds, drive around the country hold a few poker runs and pig pickins wherever I stopped and take the podium... have the wife and friends tape the whole mess as well.... Damn, HBO... I have been planning it on paper since 1994... oh well. No chance in hell of winning, but maybe spread some ideas and have some fun...
