First television documentaries wed two strangers.
Then they document the making of a movie. (with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck)
Now HBO wants to field a presidential candidate,' Brown Jenkins writes.
I don't know about the logistics of this:if HBO will help pay for the candidacy, do they just want a Time Warner pupper in the White House?
HBO gives you free advertising and a platform from which to espouse your beliefs.
How's that for a confict of interest?

We could always get Tonya Harding to run, that would be good..

"Tanner" was a fake TV documentary based on a fake Democratic presidential candidate. In fact, it was a series that ran through the 1988 campaign until the night of the convention when Tanner lost out to Dukakis.
You can't top "Tanner". Not even with a "real" candidate.

You guys are making me laugh here!!! Are Americans ready for a President who is a woman and single?
To: Utah Girl
How about HLL?
To: codebreaker
I was going to suggest that HBO use Martin Sheen as their candidate, he thinks he is president because he plays one on TV. Then I saw the age requirement.
To: codebreaker
HLL doesn't fit within the age requirements either. And thank heavens, Chelsea Clinton is too young to apply...
To: Utah Girl
We thought you would be the prefect candidate becuase of your background in Utah.
Just imagine the fun we could have with gentlemen callers on dates to State Dinners..

Did Tanner get any votes at the convention?
To: Utah Girl
Good one UG, I hadn't thought about Chelsea-what a nightmare.

This show would violate the new Campaign Finance Reform rules.

What would be great is if we could trick them into taking a pro-lifer who could show the HBO crowd the "other side" of all their liberal propaganda.
Sex in the City? This could be the end result these skanks are "choosing"?
The Sopranos? Big deal. Wanna watch what it looks like when an innocent victim gets really "whacked"?
Real Sex? How about "Real Consequences"?
They look for every bit of shocking anti-social material they can get their hands on. Just so long as the CONSEQUENCES of drug abuse, sexual promiscuity, crime and lawlessness are never given serious thought.
Let's find a stealth candidate who acts like an idiot clueless liberal brain-dead pothead until the cameras start rolling. Hopefully, it will be a live event!

Werent you part of those "whos a young Freeper" or Freepers under 30 threads? I cant find them. Do you have them marked?

One more reason to veto Mccain Feingold!
To: Utah Girl
Absolutely, yes! The reason it's perfect is because a young, single woman is the perfect stealth conservative. They'll never see it coming. She'd just have to mouth the appropriate liberal platitudes for her audition, and then slowly have an "awakening". By the time they figure out that they've been snookered, it's too late. It's perfect.
I seem to remember a very recent thread wherein Bella_Bru admitted to being 28. In fact, she might be the perfect stealth candidate...

We could always get Tonya Harding to run, that would be good... Unfortunately, I think Tonya's constituency is rather...limited. We want to get beyond just the trailer park/"Penthouse Letters" crowd. ;)

This is a liberal's dream! The electorate would get so tired of our election system that they would clamor for a change. Guess who would benefit?
