Its a psychological ploy to disrupt the US hockey team's focus while lighting a fire under the Russian team. They ain't goin' nowhere. But if they stay and play, get ready to watch one of the greatest hockey games ever.

Re #14

You are onto something here. Russia threatens boycott. This will play well at home with so many Russian fans either unhappy or angry. They tend to see these incidents as a continuation of steady stream of Western slights on Russia. And if they can rally Russian hockey team to the point that "fight for mother Russia or die !" and go out and pummel American hockey team who keeps bringing up "1980's glory" forever, Russians will have enough psychological boost to offset humiliation of figure-skating voteswapping and this new blood doping scandal. If the Russian delegation does not manage this kind of comeback, many heads will roll when it goes back to Russia. Putin is not a forgiving guy, you know. If Russian hocky team can knock off the myth of "1980 miracle game", the Russian people may not crucify delegates.
