Two U.S. Troopers Rescued From Chopper -Report Thu Feb 21, 7:30 PM ET
MANILA (Reuters) - Two men were rescued from the wreckage of a crashed U.S. military helicopter which went down in the southern Philippines early on Friday, a radio report said.
The dzRH radio station said the wreckage was found by fishermen and that two men were rescued. It did not give details and officials could not immediately confirm the report.
At least 12 U.S. troops were on the special forces helicopter, which was flying from the island of Basilan to the central city of Cebu, U.S. officials said.
The helicopter came down in the Bohol Sea off Negros island, about 410 miles south of Manila.

I heard the news about the awful crash this afternoon. As busy as our days are filled with all sorts of activities and appointments, the men and women who risk their lives to keep us free should be remembered each and every day with thankful heartfelt prayers for their safety.
My heart goes out to the families and friends and my prayers and thoughts are with them. Keeping hope alive and rejoice at the news of the two men rescued.
Stay Strong!

That was what came across my mind. We've had a dozen of them go down in the past 6 month. At a cost of $.....never mind it's the taxpayers money.

*L* My hubby is stationed at nearby NAS Norfolk, so I see these aircraft in action often. It never ceases to amaze me how they can get these ugly ass things off the ground, let alone perform its duties.

I so agree! My brother is currently a helicopter instructor at Ft. Rucker's ~ and during the Clinton years, his biggest complaint was that their equipment was litterally falling apart as there was no money for repairs, much less replacements!

"(and God will) Reward her even as she rewarded you "
In his letter to the Christians in Rome Paul tells us: Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, VENGEANCE IS MINE; I WILL REPAY, SAITH THE LORD. Romans 12:19
Paul, as an expert on the teachings of the Old Testament, knew this from the writings of Moses: Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:18 and To Me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste. Deuteronomy 32:35
How often we ask the Lord, "How much longer Lord, how much longer will You allow the abortionists and the murders of this world to rule?" In yesterday's news was an article about 19 of our service men in the Philippines going down in a helicopter. One could not but focus on the fact that most of the men lost so far in the war against terrorism, have died due to faulty equipment. One could look to heaven and ask "How much longer Lord? How long will You wait before You rain Your judgement down on the Clinton administration for decimating the US Military and their budget? For Lord is it not due to the lack of maintenance that this helicopter went down? How much longer Lord will you suffer, he whom You put in the office of the presidency to walk freely and without recompense for his hatred of Your babies in the womb and his despicable behavior towards those young men You raised to be warriors of this country?"
As we look at the persecution of our brothers and sisters throughout the world for their holding fast to their love for the Lord, do we not cry out to heaven asking "How much longer Lord?" Have you not asked yourself how much longer we have to wait before God will avenge all of the Christian blood shed?
Well, today we will find out just when the Lord's vengeance will rain down upon he who leads the likes of the abortionist, the muslim and the political allies of evil.

Special Operations helicopter, another report said MH47. This is probably the chinook unit with 160th SOAR out of Ft Campbell, Kentucky. 160th also has a unit in Korea that recently was assigned permanently to stage from that location. The crew would be about 4. If there were 12 then the other 8 would be rangers, green berets, etc. who could be out of any number of bases back home.
Pray for Clarkesville, Tennessee (Ft Campbell), home of the 160th. Pray for Rangers, Delta, Seals, SFs in harms way. These are wonderful americans, the best of the best. Pray for bereaved families.

You could be right -- there are so many possible configurations. But the NightStalkers don't normally carry tagalongs. My guess was the other 8 were part of a mission load...team/squad, something like that.
But for all I know they could have all been resupply or something mundane.

Yeah, it could certainly be a mixed bag. With SOAR working in support for operations in two AOs, how much more thin can they spread themselves. Perhaps the op tempo is starting to crack not only machines, but 160th as well.

I just heard confirmation on the radio that it was 160th....didn't say if it was the Korea group or the Tennessee. I used to be their chaplain once upon a time before retirement. I like your name Q6-God. Pray for these families; it's a wrenching ordeal.
They ARE spread too thin.

Death waits in the dark. (Chaplain would interpret that as "life waits in the light....so don't do evil deeds in darkness.)

Just a passenger, and if you ever wanted to see a smiling face, take a look when those beauties show up right when we need to go home. +/- 90 secs.

They're the absolute best. I once watched a little bird guy land his mh on a 1 inch tupular railing of a full steam ahead ship at sea. Awesome.
