Moving to solidify his conservative credentials and continue building momentum for a campaign that has been surging in recent weeks, Republican gubernatorial hopeful William Simon Jr. said Tuesday he had won the endorsement of the Gun Owners of California.
Simon, making the announcement at the Holiday Inn near Fresno Yosemite International Airport, portrayed himself as a strong advocate of gun rights. "We have more than enough gun laws and we need to let the dust settle [to let those laws work]," he said.

Clearly Simon is the one with the momentum here. Can't wait to see the press trying to figure this one out the morning of March 5th. They can never understand how conservatives want to be conservatives, that we stick to our principles.

Said Townsend: "This will come back to haunt him. But when you're in a battle like this [against Riordan and Jones], you can't worry about the general [election]." What an idiot.

Thanks for sending this out.
I will send this to my fellow gun owners. We are the conservatives don't live for the gun issue 24/7 until they try to take our guns away. We own them. We hunt with them. We target practice. We own them for self protection. They are not the central part of our life until the left wingers try to take them away from us!
The new gun owners since 9/11 need to know about Davis and Tricky Dick.
Simon needs to take a strong stand against MTBE and any other unneeded additive in our gasoline. This issue will insure a lot of voters joining the Simon train.

Joined by Sam Paredes, executive director of Gun Owners of California, Simon said some of the laws are not enforceable and do nothing to reduce crime. He said it is time for the state government to stop "harassing" gun owners.
This is a very impressive endorsement by the only 100% pro-Second Amendment organization in the country and goes far to prove Simon's conservative credentials. How refreshing to see an organization like Gun Owners of America point out the fact that the anti-gun laws we now have on the books do nothing to reduce crime and should not be enforced. This is a welcome change from Bush's foolish embrace of the NRA's position of aggressively enforcing Clinton's gun ban, the Brady law and every other anti-Second Amendment gun law now on the books, not to mention his support for throwing those guilty of these same violating Clinton gun control measures in jail for a number of years.
Bill Simon for Governor!

Riordan spokeswoman Kim Seraphin said the former mayor doesn't see the need for additional gun laws, but believes current laws should be enforced.Another flip-flop? Riordan has said that only police should have guns and he thinks a door-to-door sweep of guns is a good idea.
Jerk.
Go Simon!

Thanks. Then Dick and Simon need to get together to hammer this MTBE fiasco that can be dragged up to Davis's door step and other demonicRats.
Just photos of the warnings on MTBE gas pumps shows the danger and futility of this expensive poison.
A few weeks ago, I was able to fill my Bronco up in the Healdsburg area witn non MTBE gas. My mileage went from about 13/14 gallons to close to 16 on just 3/4 of a tank of the untaminated with MTBE gas. It ran better and got better mileage.

Townsend is an idiot. Basically, he's saying a principled stand in favor of the constitution "will come back to haunt" Simon. Townsend is a moron.

For months, Riordan has been the front-runner in the race. How can a guy who convincingly lost the Republican Straw Poll be called a front runner in the primary race? Who are they calling - Democrats?????

Yeah, I am one of those dangerous Christian White Males who believes in the right to own and possess guns. Most of my friends fall into this dangerous category.
We were the ones that Jake Reno watched from 1993 to Jan 2001 as the most dangerous people in the world. She forgot about the real terrorists in America, our home grown eco terrorists and Jihad Americans!
