As a project for a local citizen watchdog group in our county, I am trying to put together a comparison chart of sorts defining the differences between right-wing Republicans and leftist Democrats. I have not been successful in finding anything that would serve the purpose. We are trying to find something that would help convert life-long Democrats who don't know the issues over to our cause (or anybody for that matter). I live in the West and in a county that has suffered much from federal government encroachments. Any help anybody can give would be great. If I have posted this in the wrong section or manner, please excuse me.
When a Republican is robbed, they call the police.
When a Democrat is robbed, they become Republicans.
They attach an ammendment to a bill that forces the States to comply with the Federal will. Example: Last years highway bill (Repub congress signed by Repub prez) had an attachment threatning to withhold highway funds from any State that didn't bend to the Federal will and pass laws raising the legal limit for intoxication.
I don't think that's how I want my Federal government to govern.

There should be a link for the platform of the republican party.
Democrats want promote a government that's larger and more intrusive. They think it's their job to sit around Washington thinking of innovative new ways to spend your money and create new liberty stifling rules, while ignoring the Constitution.
Republicans believe the same thing except most of them are pro-life.
How do you stand on the following:
1. Borders
2. Language
3. Culture

The position on abortion seems a little weak, I think, but the private property section is pretty good:

PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTSWe reaffirm our commitment to the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution: "No person shall be ... deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation." We support strong enforcement of the "takings" clause to keep citizens secure in the use and development of their property.
We oppose any Federal regulation that would diminish a property owner's right to develop his property in a positive and productive way.
The right to own, use, care for and market property is a fundamental tenet of all free nations. The vigilant protection of private property rights safeguards for citizens everything of value.
Since Idaho lands are largely controlled by state and federal governments, we need to limit and if possible reduce the amount of land owned or controlled by the government. We affirm to all government officials and employees that property rights are not granted by the government; rather, government is directed by-the governed to protect the rights of private property owners.
Unfortunately, the bench is collapsing under all this weight, but the democrats have ignored the collapse.
We now have foreigners living in our predominately English-speaking nation, who refuse to learn our language and expect us to accomodate them. We had third-generation welfare recipients who filed lawsuits because they shouldn't have to go pick up the checks that should have been mailed to them. We have the gay rights movement that is attempting to destroy the Boy Scouts of America because they refuse to allow gays to have undue influence over young boys, or over-night camping trips where the worst has happened in past years.
The democrats lean drastically toward socialism in their constant attempts to take from the rich (and the middle class) to give to the poor. Democrats gain their control by making and keeping people dependent on the government. Therein lies their only power. People who are dependent on the government for their living will continue to vote for the party that gives them the most.
Republicans pretty much take the opposite stand to all of the above.

Hi, can you give us a link to that source? I'd love to have that info so I could make an email list with all 58 on it and send them a weekly rant. Besides, it would be useful to know ;-)
A Republican and a Democrat were walking down the street when they came to a homeless person. The republican gave the homeless person his business card and told him to come to his business for a job. He then took twenty dollars out of his pocket and gave it to the homeless person.
The Democrat was very impressed, and when they came to another homeless person, he decided to help. He walked over to the homeless person and gave him directions to the welfare office. He then reached into the Republican's pocket and gave him fifty dollars. It took years to figure out the real differences between Democrats and Republicans, and this little story says it all.
The woman replied," you are in a hot air balloon approximately 30 feet above the ground. You are between 40 and 41 degrees north latitude and between 59 and 60 degrees west longitude."
"You must be a republican, "said the balloonist.
"I am," said the woman." "How did you know?"
"Well," answered the balloonist "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is I am still lost. Frankly you've not been much help so far."
The woman below responded." You must be a democrat.
"I am replied the balloonist," but how did you know?"
"Well," said the woman, "You don't know where you are or where you are going. You have risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise which you have no idea how to keep and you expect me to solve your problem. The fact is you are in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but now somehow, it's my fault."
