You'll learn more and be better informed by spending a half hour or hour scrolling through a days posts than by getting your news from the talking heads. You'll find important stories that haven't been posted multiple times. Most duplicate posts stem from people refusing to search. Chances are if you've seen a story somewhere else one of the 80,000 other registered freepers has seen it too and already posted it.

If I see a story worth posting, I come here and do 2 or 3 key word searches. So far, the story has always already been here.
