Thanks for posting this. I was trying to explain this skit to my teenage daughter awhile back (as well as "Who's on First")

I was bred in old Kentucky, but I'm just a crumb out here.

She was bred in old Kentucky
But she's only a crumb up here
She's knock-kneed and double-jointed
With a cauliflower ear
Someday we'll be married
And if vegetables get too dear
I'll take a knife and cut a slice
Of her cauliflower ear
And that ain't cabbage...

I seem to remember another Abbott & Costello movie using this same "skit". I don't recall the name nor plot of the flick but there were looking for (I believe it was) Bagel Street. Each person they came across reacted negatively to hearing "Bagel Street". Brings a smile to my face just remembering it.
This was debated on another News Group and established that Joey Faye did not create the routine, that it was an old burlesque skit from the 1920's.
A variation of it is the classic "Susquehena Hat Company" with poor Costello losing the box of straw hats he and Abbott were delivering.

There's a great song about this, Don't Call Me Dude, by the band Scatterbrain. Same plot, different word. Step by step, inch by inch...

I have always loved the Three Stooges...AMC runs them every weekday, sometime during the afternoon...whenever, I have the time, I sit down and watch...its like reliving a joyous part of my childhood...

OK, OK, I'll admit my complete ignorance in front of the entire world:
I've NEVER even HEARD of this until I saw it on FR.
Does someone have a link to video of the skit? All three versions (Lucy and Ricky, 3 Stooges and Abbot and Castello) would be really great. Help?
To: ArcLight
I think Dr. Demento has played a recording of Milton Berle doing this, except in his version it was "Buffalo" instead of "Niagara Falls". Clearly a very popular bit.

Let's not forget the great black "chitlin circuit" comedian Pigmeat Markham, of "Here Come The Judge" fame. He too performed Niagara Falls; it's on one of his old LPs.
