People are such idiots... I was flying into Reagan National near the end of December and they must have announced a DOZEN times that no one was to stand or move about the cabin for the 30 minutes prior to landing in DC and explained why the rule was in place.
At 30 minutes inbound, the pilot made the announcement that the policy was now in place, and 3 minutes later the idiot in front of me decides he HAS to get into his overhead bin. The guy was lucky he only had to deal with the flight attendent... The two SAC Generals sitting across the aisle from me did NOT look pleased.

eh..I think standing up to get into the overhead compartment is a little different than having to go to the can.

Nice story but SAC no longer exists since at least the early 1990's. Try again, this time with a branch of the Air Force that actually exists.....

If the Air marshals were really all that worries about the "30 minute" rule, why in hell did they wait until the guy gave a "Thumbs up"? If they were really doing their damn job they would have arrested this individual on the spot. They watched him get up, go to the bathroom, use it, exit the bathroom. If going to the bathroom in that 30 minute window was really against the law, then the Marshals are guilty of gross criminal negligence and should be fired.
This claptrap about a 30 minute rule is just one more thing for your federal govt to shove down your throat instead of enacting real security reforms.
And like good little sheep, everyone goes along with it.
