I'm Not Snickering (Snack Food Bill)
The Political Fire ^ | 11 February 2002 | Kyle Varner

On November 6th, 2001, the voters of Washington State committed a grave atrocity. They passed a punitive tax on cigarettes. Why? The state health care system needed more money.

Now, only a few months after a tax hike, the State of Washington faces huge budgetary shortfalls. I’ll grant them that the economy is slowing down, and the S11 attacks hurt our country.

I’ve been called a spendthrift. I spend a lot of money. Not as much as the government spends, mind you- but I’m not frugal. However, when I encounter a “budgetary shortfall”- i.e. when I don’t have enough money to buy everything I want to buy, I do something very bizarre. Something that politicians just don’t understand.

I spend less money. Novel, eh?

But Washington’s Governor, Mao Tse Locke, doesn’t have common sense. He just wants to raise taxes. Then, he wants to raise taxes. Raise them again, and, just for good measure, raise them again.

One point that the Chi-Com in the Governor’s Mansion does concede is that the States Budget is in deficit mainly because of the state health care system. Now, we get into the whole, “What to do about a problem with an obvious solution” debate.

Taking a cue from Liberals around the state, Locke up and declares that he needs to raise taxes to support the state’s health care systems. How utterly Liberal. And predictable. Marx would have been proud!

Trying to act like a capitalist (he obviously failed high school drama) he tries to declare that people who use services ought to pay for them. Ok, he’s got that right. But apparently, he’s been smoking a little too much opium, because where he goes from there is twisted beyond all recognition.

“If people should pay for the services that they use, then we should tax people who are more likely to use our services.” Um, why not just, you know, get the government out of it?

After all, we’re talking about healthcare here. And we know that Government-Run healthcare works about as well as the DMV. Canada has government run healthcare, and the State of Washington has more MRI machines than the entire nation of Canada. How aboot that!

But, reason and commies don’t go hand-in-hand. So, Gov. Mao supported that cigarette tax hike. I went on the radio during that campaign and asked the question, “What’s next? A tax on Junk food?” The response from the Liberals was, “Kyle, that’s out there.”

Oh really? On Thursday, a bill was introduced to the Washington State Senate. Its aim: Establish a Junk Food Tax.

Whoopee! Now I can go into the Twinkie smuggling business!

The argument is the same: People who use services should pay for them. How they use that to justify taxes is beyond comprehension. If people should pay for their own services, let them use private healthcare. And don’t take from me, Kyle Varner, who eats junk food and pays his own doctor’s bill, and give it to Jane Doe, a Liberal Crack Whore who has to go on the dole. Cut her off!

There is a very simple solution to the deficit problem in the United States. I’ll give you three guesses:

a) Raise Taxes at a time when the economy is in a slump. You know you want to. It will help out the common folks!

b) Tell the poor Crack Whores that they are the victims. Hand out lighters so they can burn their bras, and blame racist white men who wear suits and spend all day in those luxurious heated buildings with chairs and desks. Then, pretend that you’re Robin Hood, and take from the producers and give to the Crack Whores.

c) Cut the Cracks Whores off. Don’t redistribute wealth. Cut state expenses, and, voila, no deficit.

But, like I said. Communism and Common Sense don’t exactly go hand in hand. Mao Tse Locke and his buddies are snickering right now. They’ve duped the people of Washington State into accepting even the most insidious government intrusions into our lives. But I will not yield. If they pass this tax, I’ll buy my candy bars in Idaho

Gotta love the Washington state government, the same government that drove away Boeing and other corporations. The state with the highest unemployment rate.

Hey I love this guy! Please ping me in the future when you post a thread by Klye Varner!

These quotes are great!

What a great rant! We have three of the worst governors in the history of the states on the west coast: Fadeout Fascist Davis, Katzenslobber, and the ChiCom in Washington, Mao Tse Locke!

I'm beginning to hate my state. The trouble is, it's mine. I was born here; I've lived here all my life (so far). Where did these nincompoops come from? I wish they'd go away and leave me and my money alone.

State of Washington....make note to self.

Look up the definition of "point of diminishing return"

Since the new tax I have done what any sane person would do. I started buying my cigarettes online, bypassing the State of Washington completely. Too bad.....you used to get my cigarette tax dollars and now you get nothing.

I think some Californians got tired of the heat and migrated north. I sure wish all of the nutcases would choose one state or the other and leave the rest of us alone.

This article raises some good points, but I wonder if guys like this realize how they trivialize their own efforts when they use terms like "Mao Tse Locke," or talk about his being a "Chi-Com"?

Locke isn't any different than any other Democrat politician in the country, at any level. They BELIEVE in taxes--and it's obvious that those who ELECT them (correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't seem to recall Mao's meteoric rise to power propelled by a successful election campaign) believe in taxes, too. If we could successfully convince our fellow-citizens of the error of their ways, pols like this wouldn't be elected dog-catcher.

Stick to the facts, let them speak for themselves, and can the hyperbole.

It makes you sound whiney.

The same thing happened to Vermont, which used to be a nice, traditional, family-centered state in which to live, until they made the mistake of allowing New Yorkers to move there.

...made the mistake of allowing New Yorkers to move there.

Bernie Sanders comes to mind. Barnie Frank I think is from Brooklyn.

To be fair, New York loves carpet baggers - Kennedys, Clintons.

You ungrateful wretch. Everybody should support an increase in taxes to 100% of your income. Then you could sign on to the dole programs just like everybody else. Soon, utopia will be here and the government will be mailing out checks to every citizen, less of course the 100% tax. Then and only then will we have a true democracy. Wise up and stop belly aching.

I remember reading an SF story years ago, where the premise was that the government took EVERYTHING you made in taxes, and let you keep $600 in walking around money. Everyone had "the same house," everyone drove "the same car," everyone was taken care of cradle to grave.

The protagonist was a "tax evader" who had kept $2,000 more than the allowance, to get his kids' teeth fixed at the black-market dentist. He could do that because he was a long-haul trucker and got paid in cash. He was on the run from the G-Men, trying to get to Canada before they could arrest him and take him away to prison.

Far-fetched? Hm.
