You know, there IS something to your reasoning. I would never vote for Davis, but may not wind up voting for Riordan, either. I haven't sat out an election since 1976, but may do so this time. Redistricting has pretty much killed any hope Republican congressional candidates had in my locality. So unless Simon somehow becomes our nominee for Gov., I see no compelling reason to go to the polls this time. And believe me, I'm no ideologue who expects 100% purity from a candidate on every issue. So when a Republican office seeker has a problem attracting someone like me to his candidacy, that person is going to have a hard time counting on his base come election day. BTW, thanks for the chuckle about the lot in Montecito, and good luck if you ever really do make a try at buying it.

No, No, don't sit it out, vote for a republican anyway. If Riordan wins the primary we're going to have to have a shadow convention and write-in a candidate.

If Riordan wins the Republican primary the CA Republican party is fully suborned. Abandon it find someone else to organize with. We'll need to offer a clear alternative.

But the pigs haven't flown yet, so take it easy....
