And where precisely did these hags ask any Clinton justice department official to recuse themselves from any 2nd Amendment issue because they had an agenda? Oh, that's right, they didn't. Hypocritical socialist battleaxes.

The lack of thought process here goes....when you have nothing you have nothing to lose.

To paraphrase the baby killing abortionists, "If you don't like guns don't buy one".
They should recuse themselves because they don't know diddly about firearms.

Well, theoretically, Marxists CAN be Fascist... ;0)
To: Joe Brower
Odd - I do believe that the MMM and the Brady Bunch made similar contributions to election campaigns. Shall we then recuse Chuckie Shumer and Diane Feinstein from proposing policy on gun control? (A resounding silence ensues...)
To: Joe Brower
Ashcroft refused the FBIs request because the request was ILLEGAL!!! Boy, they just HATE when those laws get in their way, don't they?

Funny comments aside, Ashcroft will need a coherent response to this request. The fact of the matter is, Ashcroft recused himself from the Enron matter because the investigation necessarily raises questions of influence peddling.
To my knowledge, there are currently no allegations of influence peddling with respect to U.S. firearms policy. Indeed, the NRA likely contributed to then-Senator Ashcroft precisely because he was already predisposed to vote the way they wanted (this is the type of thing that the McCainiacs don't want to hear vis-a-vis finance reform).
When Ashcroft was confirmed, so were his predispositions and inclinations. Sorry, gun-grabbing jackasses.

To be consistent, we urge Mr. Ashcroft to also recuse himself from all decisions related to firearms policy. Here, we have a situation in which the Attorney General has benefited from more than $370,000 in contributions from the gun lobby and the firearms industryTranslation: The millions of honest, law abiding Americans who donate to the NRA and Gun Owners of America do not have the right to express their views and support political candidates of their choice.
These hateful people will do anything to deprive Americans of their Constitional rights. This is sickening.
To: Chad Fairbanks
While the goals of complete control are the same, the methods used and people in power are quite different.
Neither side would allow a Constitutionally limited goverment.

This whole thing is a pipe dream... the reason Ashcroft recused himself is because Enron is under investigation... I don't think that applies to policy decisions.
As was stated, this is REALLY reeking of desparation bad. They must be hurting something fierce. Feel the pain you gun grabbing facist scum!

"This approach seems to reek of desperation." They few sane libs know the gun issue cost them the presidency, and they've basically thrown the anti-gunners overboard for the time being. So what's a good anti to do? Ask Ashcroft to shoot himself.

Specifically, the Brady Campaign's letter cites several examples of undue access and influence by the gun lobby: -- After the September 11 terrorist attacks, Ashcroft refused the FBI's request to use National Instant Background Check (NICS) records to determine whether any of the individuals detained on suspicion of terrorism had been approved to buy guns.
What good would that have done? The attackers used knives and boxcutters, not guns. Besides
Ashcroft isn't allowed to let the FBI or any other agency look into these NICS records. Federal
law, specifically the Brady Law, forbids it.

It's a real shame that stupidity like this isn't physically painful.

Maybe Janet Reno should have recused herself from firearms policy discussions, as well as Boxer, Schumer, Feinstein and the others who find the Bill of Rights to be inconvenient. And, how many of these gun grabbing senators have taken money from the MMM, Brady, etc?
