Not a question of ‘defending’ Hitler at all, but simply a search for TRUTH. The ‘revisionist’ historian, David Irving, put it well regarding this anecdote about Hitler’s sexuality. He said in effect that the evidence was actually meager and given that SOME of the early Nazis were indeed homosexuals, it gave Hitler’s political enemies an easy target...i.e., guilt by association. Which may have been partial incentive for Hitler to have the S.A. head, Ernst Rohm, shot on a trumped-up pretext. Certainly both the Brits and the Soviets had reason to spread this rumor once the war was on.
It IS possible that when in his “Bohemian” phase (literally), that Hitler may have ‘dabbled’ in buggery, but that he continued it into his adult life there is no compelling evidence at all. There is evidence of sexual maladjustment, judging by Hitler’s seeming inability to form a meaningful, emotionally committed love relationship with a woman. Sure, he could and likely did have brief dalliances on occasion (for example, look at Magda Goebbels and her son Helmut and tell me that the lad doesn’t look like his “Uncle Fuhrer” as the Goebbels’ children called their father’s boss), but after Geli Raubal’s suicide (if her death was a murder, it was VERY cleverly staged as the Munich police did not care for Hitler whatsoever and would have gladly taken opportunity to get him if they could, this WAS two years before his ascension to power), Hitler’s only meaningful relationship was with Eva Braun, who was ‘simple-minded’ and easily ‘handled’...just the sort of woman a controlling man like Adolf would have bothered with.
Irving rejoinder was “next thing, he’ll be accused of being a paedophile”...which since that article, has happened.
